HB 1061 & SB 396 are "Stand your ground" bills, HB 1061 includes civil immunity for legal use of deadly force in self defence. HB 193 alters the existing concealed carry laws to allow carry in a restaurant where alcohol is served as long as 51% of their yearly gross income is from food sales. HB 1044 is an audacious attempt by legislators to circumvent the NCIS background for themselves!

Below is the e-mail I sent to my reps

I am writing you to express my support for HB 1061, SB 396, and HB 193. I agree with the Framers of our US Constitution and Bill of Rights. The right of self preservation is the most basic of all human rights. These bills ensure those rights to all law abiding citizens of Georgia.



Also I would like to express my concern that HB 1044 does not have a stipulation that part time municipal and city court judges, and active and former state elected officials would NOT BE exempt from a NCIS background check. These officials (according to HB 1044) could carry a firearm on government property without having to pass the same scrutiny that an average citizen does when she/he applies for a firearms permit. Elected officials and state appointees are no more responsible than I. They may have a past domestic violence, treated for alcohol/drug abuse, committed to a psychiatric institution, or convicted of a felony. These things would prevent them from owning a firearm and from possessing a weapon.

Therefore they should pass the same muster as a average citizen does when requesting a firearms permit. These officials should be licensed also.
