Tulsa Gun Show

I think this can sit in this forum, as it is to do with potentially meeting up for a few of us.

So - Saturday April 1st - Tulsa OK - Bonnie and I will be flying over, via Denver it seems - and as yet I am not at all sure of my timing as to arrival etc. Some scheduling and planning to do yet.

I know when I last posted about the show there were two at least members hoping to go. World Pax I recall is in the locality and Steve (fed) also hoping to get there. I will be primarily liasing with Larry Ashcraft and his wife Sandy.

For now over next few days - anyone likely to be there, post here and then later on we can do some PM'ing and exchange cell #'s etc - and see if some of us can't find a way to meet up somehow, even if briefly.

We should be pullling into Tulsa about 4:00-5:00 pm. Planning on leaving Pueblo at 5:00 am, maybe earlier. There will be four of us, Sandy and I, and our friends Bud and Annetta (Bud is a member of THR, "Smoke Rizen").

If everything works out, we should be driving my new (to me) black Chevy crew cab.

We'll all be staying at the Marriott, and Sandy and Annetta are planning on some outstanding munchies for Friday evening. Y'all are invited to stop by.

I hope to be there on Saturday morning. They are advertising it heavily here in OKC.

Still thinking about it. I'll likely never be this close to it again, so It's possible. Just wish I had a little $$$ to buy something.

Sure thing Larry - my main hope is that one way or another our trip over lets us make it in time. Looks like we'll leave even earlier, in order to make the hop to Denver. The connection to Tulsa will hopefully not be too tricky.

Next week I'll circulate a PM to everyone who seems likely to be going and ask for cell #'s - and give you mine. With that then with luck some of us just might manage a quick meet and handshake, even if no time for much else.

Right now, rather than make any major plans - I'll just hope to have cell numbers and you folks have mine. Then we'll see what can be managed.

Being such a large place it won't be easy but I am sure something can work out. I expect to be there most of day and so maybe by early afternoon time we can throw some phone calls and see who is there.

If nearer the time you do have a time schedule decided then you can post again here.

Hey, Chris, I can't come this year, but I am already making plans for '07. When I went to the website on this I nearly passed out. This thing is huge. Well, anything that needs a building that has 11 acres under one roof is huge. I wish I had known about this 6 months ago, but my vacation time is all scheduled out for this year. I'm already looking forward to it next year. What is really funny is that the folks we are going to see in Vancouver, WA at the end of April moved there from Tulsa last year. If they were still there I could rearrange my vacation and include the gunshow. Bummer!

Interesting...

Looking at their websight, I see that one of the guests will be

Arkie - I reckon due to the shere size of the place that trying to fix a time and location in advance may be tricky. It's gonna take some doing to get round most everything too.

I will be with Larry Ashcraft and his friend - but reckon what might work best is to try and fix a meet via cell phone - maybe in middle of day perhaps. See how many folks we can get together then at one time and location.

Last year sm and I had kind of a late start (breakfast with the girls). But if you are going to try and see "all" of the show, you need to start early.

Couple tips: Wear good shoes. Take a notepad and pen, if you see something you are interested and want to come back later, write down the aisle and table number! I guarantee you'll never find it again if you don't. Also, if you're an annual NRA member or not a member at all, you can avoid the long lines by going to the front and paying $25 (reg. $35) for renewal or membership and get into the show free (show costs $10).

First time I went, I tried to see the whole show. Ten hours of walking later, I was completely overwhelmed. Last year, Steve and I had a "mission" (28 ga 870). I think it was more fun to relax and not try to look at every table.

This year my only mission will be to get some ammo and a new copy of The Blue Book from Steve Fjestad. And to meet and enjoy visiting with some friends.

You mean I gotta Buy something?
What happened to just looking around. LOL!!!

I would like to pickup some ammo too. and oogle or droole at everything else. LOL... I hope they don't charge me for drooling.

Actually I have never been to one that big. All of the ones around here you can actually handle all of the guns in about 2 hours. If you don't pick anything up 20 minutes. And way overpriced to boot.
