WOW...

already 9 pages of "guntoting" Christians.

EXCELLENT !!!

There may still be hope for this country yet....

I am amazed at the number of pastors that attend the certification classes for the permits here in Arkansas. It seems like we always have at least a couple.

Finishing my BA

in Bible/Ministry this semester (I should be studding right now for my greek exam tomorrow ). Most of my education is focused toward youth ministry and I would love to work with middle school students. I have wondered what I would do about carrying, I carry at church but what about trips and things of this sort? What would I be able to carry when working with students? Do I carry my Kel-tec or would I be able to carry a Larger weapon? If I decided that I can not conceal a larger weapon I will be saving some pennies for a Kahr mk40.

Any advise on what some of you do in this youth ministry situation?

Mark, you don't ask the easy questions do you. We have some people involved with youth ministry, so maybe they will chime in. I carry my Kel-Tec P32 at church, but I think you are asking about a time that is directly related to a youth gathering or activity. I don't deal with that myself, but I am the reference librarian of a woman's college and I carry the Kel-Tec and my SIG P239 in 9mm at work everyday. In Alabama carrying is not allowed in public schools K-12. Nothing is mentioned about colleges and even if it was this is a private Baptist college. There is also no provision in Alabama law for making a publicly accessible location a no carry zone. You can control your private property, but since people can walk on campus from the street it is not private property.

I think that I would probably spend some time in a youth ministry situation before making a final decision. I know I would carry the Kel-Tec, but would have to think carefully about anything bigger. Not much help am I.

Thanks for posting and I hope you get more answers.

I am sure that through prayer God will give you the guidance that you are seeking. I do know that if my son was old enough to be in your youth group I would feel much better knowing that he would be with an adult on youth retreats, mission trips, etc. that had the ablilty to defend the kids from criminals. I wish that I had the means to do so everyday in my public school classroom..........

Another rotten sinner here, saved by Grace. My wife teaches Sunday School, and I'm an usher. We only have one LEO in the church, and I don't think even he carries there. This IS a pretty liberal place though.

Another gun carrying Christian. I'm an MK (Missionaries Kid).

We were once in a church in Texas and the pastor wanted to make a point. I was MAYBE eleven years old. He asked how many people in the congregation were armed and for them to raise their guns. Guns went up ALL over the room--little old ladies, husbands, wives.

Then he asked them to hold up their Bibles.

The number was about the same, if not a little less.

He said, "Your gun is your protection from the world. Your Bible is the protection from the Devil. You should never be carrying one without the other."

It was great.

Thanks to all of you who have posted recently. It is great to see Christians who are not ashamed of the gospel, not ashamed to admit they are Christians, and not afraid to admit that God expects us to assume responsibility for ourselves. We live in a fallen world and we need to be prepared to take the actions necessary to insure that we and our families are as safe as we can be in it.
