Back to the original thread content. I'm a preacher. My wife and I travel full time, living in a 37 ft motorhome. We call ourselves "revivalists" as we help bring and sustain revival, or spiritual renewal to theAmerican Church, especially the small churches. Our web site is: www.larrysilverman.com
I have a MI ccw. I carry where ever I am legal to do so. We've had two close calls on the road. Once I was unarmed and it took swat to get us out of a short hostage situation, out of our rv. My mind was made up at that time that I would never be unprepared to protect my family again. The second inncident we were in a codition orange state and I had my 9mm in my hand. What a difference that made! God bless, Larry |

Well the first time we were having meetings in a small church and we had the motor home parked at the pastors home. A druggie came calling on the pastor in the middle of the night with a pistol in his hand. The pastor was a truck driver too, so he and his wife were out on a over night run. The driggie broke into the house, the pastor's daughters were in the house, and one of our daughters too. They came running out the motor home around 2 am waking me up. I called 911 and within 45 minutes we were surrounded by swat and lots of cops. In the meantime the druggie came out pounding on the motor home demanding that we let him in. It all turned out ok as he passed out on the floor, the leo's covered us whle we got into fire trucks and were taken to the fire house while the secene was secured. I was unarmed during this one, and vowed that that would nver happen again!
The second time, again at a small church, on a Sat. night, a drunk began pounding on our door in the middle of the night. He was yelling, "Preacher, tell me about Jesus!" I told him to come to the service in the morning and I'd tell him about Jesus all he wanted. He said, "No, let me in now and tell me about Jesus now! And if you don't I'm going to break the door down and kill you all!" At the time I had a S&W 9mm, and it was in my right hand while my wife was trying to get the police on our cell phone that kept dropping the call! She got the State Police dispatcher over 17 times and it kept dropping before she could say too much. Finally I heard her scream..."This is not a hoax... we need help and was able to get the address to them." About 30 minutes later a leo car came, but the drunk was gone, after he took a leak on my motor home! That man probably never knew how close he came to meeting Jesus that night.... or maybe not Jesus but someone he'd never want to meet! Both of our incidents happened in small towns, one out in the middle of the country. We've been in some pretty hairy places... like inner city Pittsburgh, inner city San Francisco, and nothing there has ever happend. But out in the middle of now where we have had our problems. I've often thougth of the 2nd time around on this, and the difficulty my wife was having getting help. I did go to bed later, after talking with a couple deputies, and thinking to myself, I was able to protect my wife and myself. I personally feel that is the way God would have it! Be blessed, Larry |

I am not a pastor but just a guy who leads his family & a church Life Group. I decided to carry because I believe God is fully over all things & may allow my life or someone else's life to be threatened. He may be bringing me to that situation so that I can have courage to take action. I choose to use the tools available to me today to defend good and hate evil.
