Howdy from TX
Top of the morning! Crap, I hate the morning...
Anyway. I just found this site and am exploring since I just bought my first two firearms at 34 years old - a Skyy 9MM and an old, short barreled police shotgun. Don't know why I bought them except after watching Katrina coverage on TV I finally decided that I'd rather have the option to protect myself than not when civil society erodes. I would stake 99% of my money on the fact that I'll never, ever need to use these weapons, but I'd rather cover that 1%. I'm hear exploring because I'm target shooting 100+ rounds a week and considering my CHL, mostly since I like camping when I ride motorcycles and am afraid of bears and wildcats. However, with CHL and ability to carry in the bushes comes the potential to carry in everyday circumstances. I'm here exploring whether or not I think this is a good idea. The legal implications are scary. The situations in which you can draw the weapon appear to be very defined. I'm getting the impression that you can only draw if you fear for your life. But it seems like most fear for your life situations wouldn't allow you to draw a CW. I need to explore and read more. There you go. |

welcome. Each person needs to decide if they could defend themselves if need be. Carrying is a big responsibility, but the alternative may include being injured or killed not being able to defend ones self.

Welcome, hope you find your answers. I know from being in and around Dallas, I would be carrying all the time over there.

Where do you hang out? I've been here 2.5 years and have never even had a rude word directed my way. Except on the highway, but that just passes as everyone drives away from each other! There are some restaurants that I go to in areas where I would feel safer having a gun. My girlfriend works in a restaurant so on Saturday nights we go out late, around midnight at best. A few places we go don't feel too great due to older businesses, set back from the main road, in areas that aren't that great anyway. But they are lit and popular, so it's typically not unsafe feeling, whatever that means. |
