Hello from Pennsylvania.
I retired (35 years in Aerospace Engineering) and moved from So. Cal. to So. Central PA. What a wonderful change that was! I love the people, the green landscape, the fact that the dollar isn't built more for speed than endurance here, and the pace of life that allows for stopping to smell the roses.
I grew up in MI, did a lot of rifle and pistol shooting with my Dad. I was in the Army so had the benefit of that training. I hadn't done "any" shooting for nearly 40 years when we moved here and I got started again. It isn't like riding a bicycle, but I'm doing better than I expected. I have my home defense setup in place. I've shot about 1,000 rounds through my G19, practiced with the M3X light, got the Lasermax working, and have learned to unlock the 4 button vault with my eyes closed. I'm going to an action shooting event for beginners tomorrow. So I have a holster for the G19 and have practiced dry fire draws, and some with live ammo at steel plates. I had some real fun with the steel plate targets. Now I'm working on the carry side of things. My reason for carrying is quite simply "because I can". After living in CA, getting my permit with no hassle was wonderful. So I have the permit but I haven't carried yet. I laid out a training/education program for myself so that I'd have at least some clue what I was doing when I started. I'm planning to take the 2 day InSite class next month. I found this forum and I'm very glad to be here. I'm looking forward to learning a lot from the experiences of folks that have been carrying. I think there is more to it than slipping the pistol in your pocket and venturing forth! The G19 is way to big to hide on me, so I'm planning on buying and taking my self defense class with a Kahr PM9 in an IWB holster in the next few weeks. Fitch |

Welcome to PA then, fitch! I tell so many people about the joys of living in a state who's firearms laws are so close to what they ought to be. A few more strides and we'll be free. At any rate, welcome also to forums.
