SW LOUISIANA

I\'m David Armstrong, a professor of criminal justice at McNeese State University. I\'ve got an extensive background in military, LE, and civilian firearms training, and perform research and analysis into defensive firearms use. I\'m usually in some hot water because I regularly point out where many beliefs and perceptions conflict with facts and reality. I\'m a certified CHL instructor for Louisiana and hold numerous instructor certifications in other areas.

Welcome to the forum, David. I lived in Lake Charles for about a year back in \'72. When we first moved there we spent a whole day crabbing and swimming in Lake Charles. Took \'em home and boiled them up. Yummm. The next day someone told us that NOBODY ate crab from Lake Charles because of the level of mercury (among other things) in the water. It hasn\'t killed me yet but we stayed away from the lake after that. We still crabbed in the bayou, though. Water bugs big enough to ride sidesaddle but I had alot of fun there :kay:

With your background, we are looking forward to see you here.

Lots of changes since 1972, including the fact that the pollution has been significantly reduced, so you can eat most of what you catch at the lake these days, although some species are still recommended in moderation. Glad to be here, hope I can be of some use to the forum.
