As for the what gun question, whatever works!!! I'd be partial to the .380s if ammo were more available. After that, I like the short barrel hammerless .38s. Old or not, if you are healthy enough to learn/practice some self-defense martial arts techniques, do so. They certainly are not for everyone and every situation, but have their place. Depending on style, can provide an opportunity for regular workouts. I've had 3 situations recently where a gun wouldn't do, but knowing I had other tools was comforting. In one case, I'm fairly sure my wife and I were about to be robbed, perhaps at knife point. Just situational awareness and an aggressive posture caused the bozo to not even think about it another split second and he walked off sheepishly as if nothing was going on. I'm sure we were targeted because of our age and my wife's now rather slowed pace. We old guys are favorites for the young thugs; be prepared. |
