Open carry is legal here, so I do often. I am in the process of getting my CCW permit right now, and buying a XD in 9mm for CC.

I would never open carry, even though its legal in Michigan. A pistol is a personal choice issue. Many citizens don't care for guns, and that's fine with me; I see no reason to subject people to something they don't like. I don't have a problem with OC'ers (I've never seen an OC). But I prefer to hide the gun, keep a low profile, and go about my business.

If it was OC, as in old western, everyone OC, I would carry both OC and CC.

It it was OC, in an semi-anti-gun community, and I had the choice of OC or CC, I would CC.

I would carry concealed. I don't like to get unwanted attention.

I've said this before and probably will again,
Contrary to the opinion of some, no one has a right to not be offended. Nor is it anyones obligation to cater to peoples unreasonable fears. Especially if those fears are a result of their decision to be voluntary victims because they refuse to responsible for their own well being and safety. If peoples' phobia is so extreme that they can not distinguish between a law abiding citizen that may defend them and a thug who may victimize them they need to seek professional help. (hint thugs do not open carry guns in a holster) Even if there was such a right, my right to live, defend my life and live unmolested supersedes anyones unreasonable fears.

"A fear of weapons is a sign of retarded sexual and emotional immaturity." - Sigmund Freud

Really why should I care how someone that is willing to see my children butchered feels about my rational sane and legal effort to protect them?

I would not OC here in Las Vegas, Nevada. I'm waiting for my CFP to arrive in the mail. In the past I've worked armed security before for a few years. That's OC on a different level. It was one of the "tools" of my job. That's the only way I'd OC. I wouldn't want the undesired attention from the general public and the local authorities.

I live in a state that has legal open carry and I have thought about it a great deal but have decided against it. There are a couple of reasons for this.
1. I really do not want to call attention to myself.
2. I have no desire to make others feel uncomfortable because I am carrying openly.
3. With a CCDW permit holder I always have the element of the unknown in my favor. As another member put it, I have the tactical advantage.

Appendix and/or shoulder holster. Better retention for me.

Open carry would be some sort of strong side hip holster. I also like the element of surprise that concealed carry provides.
