Although the Restaurant Association fights every year to keep CC from being legal, I am not aware of them trying to get OC prohibited. I agree, it is a stupid law, and we managed to get it repealed last year, the governor vetoed it. The bill was reintroduced again this year, but we still have the same governor so it will probably be vetoed again.
I have it on very good authority that Restaurant Association fights every year to keep CC from being legal but do not try to get OC prohibited, because they think that the will see OC and bars as a bad thing. They want to hold the line on CC and wait until the time is "right" to close down OC -- which they think will come sooner if the keep everything visible.

One thing to mention re NM OC is that the law says one cannot carry where alcohol is sold. That is true even if it not to be consumed on the premises. One could not buy gas at one of the quick stops where beer was sold and pay inside.

The changes to the concealed carry law now permit Concealed Carry in places such as the quick stop gas stations, or Walmart where alcohol is sold, but not for consumption on the premises. However, that does not apply to OC. The law remains the same for OC.

We still cannot carry in restaurants where alcohol is served either CC or OC.

Just wanted you to be aware of that if you want to OC in NM.

Regards,
Jerry

If you head over to the OpenCarry board, in the Oregon forum, you'll find a "sticky" at the top of the forum that discusses the cities that have limitations on the carry of loaded firearms. Basically, with a CHL, you can carry openly wherever, including in the cities that have restrictions; but without a CHL, you'll need to follow the basic restrictions in those cities.

I live in an open-carry state and have never had any problems when I choose to carry my pistol! I talked to an attorney with the Attorney General's office here in the state today and found that we have less restrictions on open-carry than I thought we did. I found today that it's legal to OC in bars, restaraunts, banks and some other places where CC is not allowed. It's still not allowed in any government buildings or schools. It is up to the Manager or person in charge of the facility you happen to be carrying in as to whether they want to allow it or not and if not they need a sign posted openly on all doors. The management is the one who can make the decision on whether you can/cannot carry in their facility.
I OC almost everywhere I go. If i happen to be purchasing any alcoholic beverages, I leave my pistol in my vehicle as I don't want anyone getting the impression that I'm going to mix alcohol with my handgun!

I used to OC every now and then, but I don't anymore. No one else in my area does, so it kind of made me stick out a bit.

Generally speaking, I wear, jeans, t shirt or wife beater tucked pull over long sleeved shirts get tucked in. If that is all I am wearing than I am OC'ing. Button down shirts, flannel shirts are often untucked, sport coats, jackets, over coat, all cover so I CC

You don't have to really worry about that. Even if you do mix the alcohol with your handgun, it probably won't rust, the alcohol tends to displace the water away from the metal. If you have a snubbie, though, you might get your bullets wet.

Open carry is legal in Kentucky but you very rarely see people doing so, except for the occasional OC group that will have "outings" as a picnic in a park or to an owner gun friendly restaurant as one group does in Elizabethtown, KY. There are several reason why people choose to CC rather then OC. Most do not want to call attention to themselves and many as I do believe that carrying concealed gives you a tactical advantage. Personally in addition to this I have no desire to cause any distress in people around me because I am carrying openly.

I live in AZ, and generally carry concealed. However, I do ride a motorcycle, and during the cold months, it is necessary to put on or remove clothes as either the sun goes up or down, or you go up or down in altitude. At those times, it is good that open carry is allowed, as there is not any good way to add or remove layers without exposing your weapon.

There are some times, however, when I will just decide to carry openly. I live in a rural part of the state, and no one pays any attention, other than to check out the gun as to make, model, etc. I work in the Phoenix metro area, and frequently see people OC'ing, and it doesn't seem like the sheeple really care.

YMMV

C9H13N03 & FSAT DRAW, I would like to clarify a comment you made. While OC is legal in WA, once you are in a vehicle it is no longer OC and muct have a CCP or store the weapon. Inside a vehicle is concidered concealed carry. I don't know if this is the same in Oregon.
