(I do have a ccw permit and conceal carry almost 100% of the time.)

Other gunnies in this state must feel the same way because I rarely ever see anyone "open carry".... I probably haven't seen anyone open carry for a couple of years.

So for those of you who can open carry....... do you? Do you see lots of people in your states open carry?........ Thanks..
Georgia is an open carry legal state but I don't intentionally do it, if I ever planned on doing anything like that it would "partially open" in that it's loosely concealed so as to make access easier. Once some guy walking by at 6AM said nothing when he saw my gun while I was getting into my car for work, i was surprised about that.

I have seen a few people OC around here, but just about all except one looked like they were detectives because they looked clean cut but I honestly don't know, I just assume they were, except for the other guy I saw in a hardware store, they looked average except for the 92FS on his OWB holster... I did not see anyone panicking in Walmart, Kroger or home depot... I myself never thought anything off it (Criminals simply don't OC!) the only thing that would set me off is if someone was HOLDING a firearm not carrying one holstered.

I'd like to see that too. Sounds like a myth a best

I know for a fact you are dead wrong.

Show me where in the Michigan Compiled Laws or any Michigan case law where it states you must onlycarry concealed if you have a CPL.

Good luck. You won't find it because it doesn't exist.

Archer, I looked forever to try and find it but could not on line, sorry.

To answer Tubby's post, I guess I just trust what I learn from licensed NRA instructors to give me thee most up to date information on the most recent laws. EVERY person I have talked to that has taken a CCW course in the past two years has learned the EXACT thing I have stated. Anyway, chill out a little Tubby, no sense in getting your panties in a bunch, I am just stating what I learned. Isn't that what a forum is about? Are you even from Michigan?

Sorry if I came off as harsh. I had a rough day. I get irritated when people quote something as fact of law but have nothing to back it up with. I get even more irritated at the idiot NRA instructors that teach the CPL classes in Michigan. I have personal beef with the NRA as an organization (not the time/place) but the instructors they certify that teach the CPL classes are worse than useless. If I had a penny for every time I had to set someone straight on some "law they heard from their NRA certified CPL class instructor", I'd be very wealthy.

To answer your question, I do live in Michigan. I live in Laurium, which is in the Keweenaw Peninsula just about 20 minutes north of Michigan Tech.

I may be wrong, but it sounds like the instructor may be giving out some bad information. It could be one of several things, he could be interpreting the regulations wrong, or he doesn't believe in OC. The other option is he is correct in what he is teaching.
If you could get in touch with him it would be interesting to see where in the regulations it states it.

BTW is that a P-01 you have for your avatar, it looks to be.

Archer, yes that is a P-01, I don't have any pics of mine on my comp yet so that is just one I found on the internet. I notice that yours is too. I like the grips. I have some wood ones too that are a touch lighter. Pretty great gun if you ask me.

Thanks for both your responses. I will definitely look into the matter for the sheer fact of curiosity. Not to prove me right or wrong, or any one else. I understand that the instructor could be wrong except that other people that have taken classes at different places and heard the same thing. So I guess that just made me think it was true, I am not going to fight the fact that I am right because I make mistakes too and could very well have mis interpreted or just been told the wrong information (which would really upset me at the NRA instructor!!!!). I never stated this as fact of law either, just information I have learned. Nothing to back it up, probably makes me look stupid anyway. I would actually like for me to be wrong for the reason that there is no good reason to not allow OC just because you have a CC permit. But anyway, I will never OC anyway so I was not too worried about it. Tubby, is there more OC in the UP than the LP? Do you OC and CC? Here in Jackson, I have not ONCE seen an individual OC...

Archer, just noticed yours looks to be a P-06 because of the magazine, my mistake.

Actually I have both the P-01 and P-06, the P-06 is my EDC gun and I use the P-01 for a back up EDC.

Respectfully, you did state it as fact of law. You did not preface your statement with "I learned in CCW class" or anything like that. You merely stated that once a person obtains their CC permit they MUST conceal - no disclaimer or anything else. I, for one, also have a problem with folks who state more restrictions in gun laws than are actually there because it does nothing but hurt our cause and our fight against the anti's. If we continue to perpetuate myths that are not in the laws, sooner or later those myths will become law before we notice and we will lose even more rights than we have already lost.
