the proper terminology would be georgia firearms license, or "gfl" for short. its not a ccw, ccp, cpl, or any of the other concealed only permits ive heard it called.

i wasnt trying to be smart either, i apologize if it sounded that way.

Wile traveling, guns must be unloaded and locked an a secure case. Ammunition must be also secured separately from the weapon in a locked secure case.

The weapons are to be transported in a separate compartment from the driver. This usually means the trunk of a car. Legal issues can happen in cases where one is driving an SUV or a Van where there is no trunk.

If you are pulled over by a state trooper, I suggest you do the following:

1. Do not exit the vehicle.
2. Cross your hands over the top of the steering wheel so they can clearly be seen by the LEO and his camera.
3. When the trooper or LEO addresses you explain that you are peacefully transporting firearms and ammunition in locked cases and in a separate compartment from your passenger compartment.
4. Ask to show the LEO your carry permit as well as any other information he will ask for including drivers license, registration and and a current auto insurance certificate.
5. If the LEO asks to inspect your vehicle, It would probably be in your best interest to allow a search so you can be on your way.

Happy Trails,

SIG
The ammo does not have to be stored seperate from the gun...The containor does not have to be locked, only snapped or zipped. Also it can sit in the seat next to you.
I think this post is just "recommendations". It's not the law.

I couldn't have said it better.

Illinois will confiscate your weapon and it's next to impossible to get it back. The state is run by Mayor Daley and the Chicago crowd. Grew up in Southern Illinois. I can physically feel the oppression come over me as I cross into state to travel home to visit family.

My understanding is that open carry is not illegal in unincorporated areas of Illinois; the state has no law against it. If you're in a city (or other incorporated area), you have to know the laws there. It's a patchwork arrangement. Most Illinois police are not used to seeing anybody open carry, so expect to be hasseled / arressted if you try it. Concealed carry is definitely illegal statewide.

I was born in Illinois and am ashamed of what it has become. I made a trip back several months ago and carried in Texas, OK, and MO. I had to unload and store before going into Ill. What a bunch of $##@#.
