A poll about open carrying near POTUS events (MSNBC)
Let's hit this poll. Scroll down a bit to get to the link, or this *may* work to direct link to the poll - I'm not sure.
Story: Guns near Obama fuel 'open-carry' debate - Life- msnbc.com Direct link attempt: Newsvine - Is it appropriate for gun-rights activists to openly carry their weapons near a presidential event? IMO people should never have their 2A rights or right to self-defense taken away simply because a government official happens to be a closed building far away. |

You want to actually commit a crime of attempting to murder someone? You should be taken out. At an event with protective cordons and a VIP's around, I wouldn't expect any less.
But, you want to simply be a citizen who happens to be carrying, where you are NOT engaging in any hostile or criminal behavior ... then I simply cannot see why it should be jumped on. No criminal act or threatening behavior? Then, get over it and go do whatever it was you were there to do, since the "guy with the gun" isn't an issue. Voted "yes": carrying at a public function isn't a violent/criminal act and should thus be allowed.

Voted yes. I think it was bad judgment of them to do so, but not illegal.
