Sorry to hear about your day...I'm sure that you'll have plenty of good ones to counter this one...hang in there (sounds like you can handle the few bad one you may encounter).

chemicalpoet: Holy S**t, that's a cool username. It sounds like your day sucked, but didn't ! Fabulous handling of both situations.

The world might be full of people that are ignorant, but you are not one of them!

Wink

I appreciate all the positive feedback, guys/gals!

Yeah, I shrugged it off, but not without a little antipathy. It's just so surprising that people, even at the caliber of a trusted family physician, can be so naive and close minded. It's just disappointing.

If you O.C., you will encounter sheep, and I completely accept that. I personally find open carry to be more advantageous to the security of myself and my loved ones than concealed when legally allowed, regardless of the "little stuff" that you might run into.

I've got to say, Lebanon TN is a weird place at times when it comes to firearms & legal carry. I hate to make a general index, but this is really how it's gone: Older folks seem to love them, I get all kinds of positive questions and praise/support from black people/friends, a 1/4th of the white community show some form of support or understanding, but the other 3rd are straight misinformed, irresponsible pukes. Yet, the vast majority of the police dept.'s are all very supportive in my methodology and armed-citizen mentality. Everyone beyond that seem skeptical or just scared, which is a shame.

Either way, it's all gravy as long as you carry, and as long as you keep your head up and around people like you cats, you can strut out of the mud.

cheers!

I have often wonder a question of Dr. Offices and such, every waiting room I have been to has the magazines for men, guns, hunting and mags along this line.

If they are such disbelievers, they just why in the crap do they put magazines like that in the waiting room. I guess they talk the talk, but dont walk the walk.....

As far as your doctor goes,it doesn't really surprise me.The AMA is extremely anti-gun.A few years ago,it might have been on packing.org before it shut down,I can't remember,I read a similar thread.A lady took her kid to her pedatrician, and the doctor asked her if there were any guns in her house, and then started to pull out AMA brochures that stated it was "a proven fact" that having guns in a house with children is dangerous. I would find a new doctor ASAP.Send a letter to your doctor explaining why you won't be going back and mabey include a couple of brochures about how more guns saves lives, shooting stats involving legal gun owners,etc...

Hey Poet,

Don't let it get to you.

The world (country) is just full of "Brain Damaged" loudmouths, just waiting to ruin your day.

When I got back to the "World" from 'Nam, I had an elderly woman spit on me. Moral of the story, I always traveled in civies after that, maybe OC is too stressful and not worth the heartburn.

I would have knocked the beer guy on his fat butt and walked away with his beer.

Seems like you OC guys have all the fun! I kinda like my quiet little life tho in the CC world..I may be too old for all that excitement anyway so CC for me while out in public. Besides, it's state law here.

I've yet to have a problem OC'ing, but I suppose it happens.

One time my dad was headed down a canyon on a mule when some yuppie hiker came up the trail. The hiker asked "What's that big gun for?" Dad replied, "It's in case a coyote of some kind down here wants to die, 'cause I sure wouldn't want them to have to wait."

I'm sort of quick mouthed anyway, so someone asking me something like that would generally get a distorted answer. Something like, "Well, I like toi make fools ask stupid questions!" would be likely.

My doctors know I hunt (had to give me a rabies series when I called in a fox that got a little too close), and they know I carry, and they've saved my life at least a couple of times...literally. They're more than just doctors, and I think of them as friends. Seriously, how many of you have your doctor's cell phone number? ;) Never had a problem there.

Don't let the idiots dictate what you do or how you do it. I really feel no need to hide from an idiot.

To those who say "The world would be better off without guns". Ok, but since they're a fact of life, I guess I'll utilize what I can from 'em!

Chemicalpoet,
The issue with your doctor is a result of the public health community openly announcing the objective to eliminate all firearm ownership (especially handguns) in the interest of public health. Your doctor has been brainwashed by all his medical journals.

The best way to counter this is with the following Tennessee Law Review article. It exposes the health care anti-gun publications as ideologically driven and based on faulty data analysis. Two Harvard Medical School professors and one from Columbia Medical School contributed to the review. Your doctor will not be able to ignore it.

P.S. You should bring in some good shooting magazines and leave them in the waiting room.
