I'm so sorry you had such a bad day. The incident at the gas station appeared to actually be more positive than it felt at the time.

You had the chance to educate the other people in the establishment on legal open carry and the idiocy (if they didn't already know) of your door blocking asshat. :)

As far as your doctor, get a new one. My doctor may or may not be an anti, but he doesn't say anything about my carrying. If you want to drive to Southern Hills Medical Center in Nashville, I'd be happy to share his name.

I know that one day I will run into a day like yours, but the worst I had was a large black woman (who was stocking the coolers) at a Wallmart Neighborhood let out a fearful/surprised yelp when she saw my sidearm (after greeting me with a big smile and "Hello").

My GF started laughing, I smiled at her politely and said "good Morning" as my only response.

I'd hope that you get more positive responses, like I generally do when someone notices the .45 Glock 30 on my hip (it is a fairly large gun for a "sub-compact").

Keep your chin up!

As others have said, don't make too much of your experience of OC'ing. Once in a while you meet people who just don't understand why we do OC.

I had something like this happen one day while I was in line at a fast food restaurant as I was enroute to work. I placed my order, paid for it and was waiting near the counter. These two teenagers walk up to the counter to order their food. One of them looks my direction and sees my G26 in my OC holster. He suddenly jumps back, raises his hands and says in a loud voice, "Don't shoot me bro! I'm too young to die." This is while there were 15-20 people in the fast food. I didn't even give this little idiot a second look. When my order was ready I just took my food and sat at a table.

At times these idiots are not worth responding to under this circumstances. Why dignify this idiots moronic comment with a reply. It was just not worth it.

Chemicalpoet, I went in to get a manicure and the lady shouts "OH NO! YOU HAVE A GUN!"

Guess who's coming to the range on Wednesday to learn how to shoot? :)

Sometimes even a bad day, filled with idiots, can turn out to have a positive impact somehow. Glock30Owner is right. You had the chance to educate. If there was any doubt in the onlookers' minds before, at least now they know that lawful OCers are just normal, sane, calm, rational people. And whaddya know, your gun didn't just go shooting people at random, either. (Apparently they do that, whenever sheep and the media are involved?)

Sorry about your bad OC day.

West Virginia has open carry, but I won't unless absolutely necessary. The Attorney General website has all the gun rules posted and plainly states that in open carry "the weapon will draw the attention of... and continues on with LEO etc. Wearing your handgun OC will do exactly that, and will get your posted comments, so one should expect it. Even though it may be legal, it will get noticed pretty much all the time.
Not knocking OC, that's a choice, but your experiences are the reasons why I carry concealed as much as possible.

I don't have to explain to any numb nut why and the BG won't have a clue I'm armed.

Just think what would have happened if the colonists felt it was too much work to disobey the King. No one ever said life is easy. If we don't use our rights they will be taken away from us (since we are using them).

On a lighter side, there are times when it is fun dealing with the sheeple.

I know this is an unpopular response, but, sometimes discretion is the better part of valor; meaning the Doc's office, like the post office is one of the places one should leave the gun in the car. It is not only about the Doc, the nurses can also be an issue.

I live in the same town as you do. I have found a doc, but have yet to make an appt with him. Wil you let me know which one was your Dr, so I don't end up with him? Thanks!

You sure could have had a better day. Glad it wasn't worse. We can't OC here. Even if we could I think I would be hesitant to do so. I sometimes think that OC could turn to open target. I guess it could be different where every one can OC.

I too think I would find another doc. I would think the doctor patient relationship could now be strained.

I would like to see the NRA make its magazines available to non members. I would consider taking out a subscription for the good doctor.

They are available over the counter, so they are not restricted to members-only.

Have you contacted member services to see about getting a subscription for the doctor without a membership? I've seen subscriptions in libraries and I doubt the library is an NRA member.
