Angry North Idaho Fair - Sheriff Deputies Overstepping Boundaries

Hi Guys,

Last Saturday I open carried to the fair and had a run in with the Sheriff's deputies. I'm currently engaging the Sheriff's Dept. on the matter, and have been getting a lot of good advice from the guys at OpenCarry.org thread on this topic. I thought I'd post the ongoing situation here as well. You can follow what has already taken place at our local Constitution Party blog where I am a committee member.

Thanks for any feedback and support.

Good work so far! The only comment I would have, reading your website, is that you might have better luck approaching it strictly from a violation of state law standpoint vice rights violation. LEO agencies tend to be more receptive that way, in my limited experience.

Good Luck in your endeavor. The Twin Falls Co. Fair is also posted and it starts this week. I'm a believer in concealed carry though. "DON'T ASK, DON'T TELL, NO SEE, NO FOUL". Sheep scare easy and they are very stubborn. I hope you win this as people need to understand that it's not guys like us that they need to worry about. It's the people who have ill will in mind and no law in the world will stop them.

Thanks Astute,

But I would still encourage you to write your sheriff and state that the sign is in violation of state law.

Use the links to the Idaho laws that I've included in that post and work to defend the right!

You handled it well,I believe there are many more people starting to carry, and when they see people carrying firearms that even when confronted and told they can't do something legally instead of overreacting and showing negative reactions comply and handle it diplomatically, you may lose a battle here and there, but we will win the war

Congrats on your communication skills.
It sounds to me as the SO realizes a mistake on their part...they're trying to put time between responses.
How much time does it take to 'research'...:bs:

Looks like you have all your ducks in a row and you're just waiting on the SO to play catch up. It appears they may have their ducks in a row as well(just judging by their actual responses to you when escorted out), however, their lead duck appears to be following a crooked line.

Kudo's on the well thought out bantering back and forth with the SO. Clear, concise, and to the point almost always works.
