This past summer I traveled through Ohio on my way to a family reunion in Wheeling, WV. Have some family in Ohio so I was there a couple of times, open carrying. Was in the little town of Martins Ferry, right across the river from Wheeling. On the way home stopped in Columbus at Iron Pony (motorcycle accessory super store), at an Atlanta Bread Company near Iron Pony and then spent the night in Cinci at my sister's. Open carrying at all stops, no comments, not stares, no problems from the sheeple.

My son is a police officer in Wheeling and my mother lives in Martins Ferry. This is very gun friendly territory, but not as much as at one time. Things in Ohio are changing for the worst I fear, one of the reasons I decided it was time for me to leave. Nice to visit every so often though. West Virginia does not recognize my Wyoming permit. Was looking into getting a PA permit so that I could have West Virginia.

The former Chief, Ed Long, is a good friend of mine.

Yup. Sometimes much smaller than we think.
I've known Ed for about 25 years. We used to run the shooting matches at our church's men's fellowship camp together. I usually embarrassed him by beating him when it came our turn to shoot. ![]()

I live in OH and do not believe in OC. I have a CCW, and use it daily. I am very private about myself and my family, and do not believe that it is anyone's business if I am carrying a firearm.
I am not against OC, per say, but I do not find any reason to carry a gun in the open. It causes too many problems with sheeple who do not understand the need to carry a firearm. As I live in the country, I know that most of the folks around here have truck guns, which is a necessity that has developed over time. Just my opinion. Jamie |

It is not nice to knock OC. There are a lot of people that don't believe in OC or CC. When we start to fight amongst each other about the PROPER way to carry, we will all lose in the end. I seem to remember in Europe that they were getting crap about handguns and some of the sports shooters and fox hunters agreed with the antis. We all know how well that turned out. I bet they wish they would have supported their fellow gun owners.

Nobody has to like the law, only obey it, cops first and foremost. Open carry is 100% lawful in Ohio. No cop has to like that. He just has to recognize and abide by it. If he chooses not to, then he has only himself to blame for the consequences. "I didn't know" isn't an excuse for me if I carry into Chipotle. Neither is it an excuse if a cop unlawfully harasses or arrests somebody for OC. Neither of us should expect any breaks if we do.
