No problem, we are good! We were typing at the same time.

Jamie,

The following is a post I made concerning the Toledo bar shooting. It may apply here considering we are talking Ohio. We are pretty sensitive!

Ok, Ok, Ok, you can stop jabbing your finger at Ohio....

Look, here is the deal. Ohioans are still in the "trenches" concerning ccw rights. When "right to carry" became law (under Gov. Taft) in 2003, it was the biggest piece of crap you could ever imagine. It contained a bunch of senseless restrictions and guidelines that you couldn't even dream up. But you know what?...we took it. We took it graciously because it was better then nothing.

Today (2009) I can proudly say that after HR 347 that removed allot of the BS restrictions, SB187 which is our "castle doctrine" and also gave us new ways to legally carry, and our reciprocity with West Virginia. Ohio is moving in the right direction...baby steps yes, but still moving forward.

Right now we have HB203 that is currently being reviewed. HB203 if passed, allows a CHL holder to enter a establishment that serves liquor. So yes, if you, as a CHL were in that bar in Toledo that night...you would have been able to defend yourself. This all is from the fine work of us CHL holders, OFCC, NRA, and most important, our Repub"s and Dem's that we elected into office.

We are not as good as FL, TX, and AZ yet...but we are working on it!

Are we "touchy" up here concerning legislation? Yup! I think we are being what we have been through. Always let us know which way your "switch" is.

BuckeyeEric-

Well written. I don't drink, but I have more issues with the restrictions in churches and schools. Of all the places that I travel, these two bother me the most. I know that you now can carry when dropping off your kids at school, but I did before since I was in my personal vehicle.

I just noticed that you indicate 5 years CCW. Looks like we both will have to take the 'refresher' course before our next permit renewal!

If you read my posts, I think that I have covered what I needed to.

You and I are done now.

Ok guys i've been trying not to get involved but I can't help it. I'll apologize now as I think we have strayed off the course of the OP.

First things first...I do not want more laws that no one follows. Armed felons need to be in jail. I DO want to put a stop to people "dealing" guns without a license.I go to gunshows, and now lately i'm noticing some thug suppliers coming out. The guys have alot of inventory and I would suspect they know they are selling to felons. Private collectors don't own 20 junk ruger P89s. They sell old beat up stuff at inflated prices. You want to sell inventory get a license. There is one gunshow loophole that needs to be closed. I do not want to arm more criminals. How to do it ? .... I don't know.

Are we sensitive in ohio? Maybe a little. I'll say this, there are as many nuts in the NRA as there are in any liberal organization.

I'll give you one. Training. I'm not satisfied with the level of training required to get a license in ohio. People who don't have any prior training aren't learning what they need to. You can't go into one of these weekend classes and learn enough.

You never "began". I suspect there's a reason for that.

What do they need to learn and how much should it cost for them to learn it?

I agree. Although i cant really advocate for carrying a gun into an elementary or high school, I do strongly support the right to carry on college campus.

Come December will be six years ccw. I'm looking for a advanced tactical handgun course here in Cincy. Where in Soho are you located?
