What good reason?

I know several LEOs (sit in church with one every sunday) and none of them have ever said they don't like seeing guns - on or off law abiding citizens.

Let's see...there's been numerous shootings of abortion doctors....civil and criminal disturbances at some as well. So, I see an OC fellow and ask for ID.

Now, if you bear with me. Let's say I don't ask for ID and I see the assembly and the OCer. AND, I leave. It's all cool.

10 minutes later, Dr. # leaves the clinic and is shot to death by the OCer. I'm not debating who had the CR's to carry or coming down on OCers. I'm saying that the City of # that employs this officer will be sued for millions and in this day and age, probably collect.

The officer KNEW that that abortion clinics had previous issues, that this clinic had an assembly out front AND that there was at least one citizen OPENLY carrying a firearm. Do you think the 2A is going to be considered in the lawsuit against the city and the individual officer?

While I'm supportive of the desires of folks wanting to OC, I'm also very much aware of civil liabilities imposed by society these days.

It's something to consider as you pick apart the officer and OC actions of this video.
Your assumption is incorrect, the SCOTUS has repeatedly ruled that the police have NO DUTY to protect individual citizens.

You're supportive?....might I ask what you think are the desires of OCer's. It's my opinion that you haven't a clue what our desires are but please prove me wrong.

Post Regarding Forum Rules & "Personal Attacks"

Our forum rule concerning "personal attacks" would be that we have a forum rules against making personal attacks on other DefensiveCarry forum members.

We have no forum rules against making comments about some nameless, faceless, individual on an Internet video.

Just FYI.

snip....
The officer is the one that set the entire mood of the encounter. Immediately accusing the OC of committing a crime.

Be nice, until it's time to be not nice. Up to the point an officer falsely accuses me of committing a crime I will be nice, after that...well I guess I will act accordingly.

I realize this but I would hope that the site administrators and moderators would also recognize how those types of comments by the site staff are in poor taste, regardless of whom they are directed.

This what happened...the guy came over to record what was going on. The cop approached him first asking "what do you got there?" before the guy ever opened his mouth. The cop was pretty arrogant as far as I'm concerned.

As it turned out, The guy new his rights and knew the law like 99% of all ppl who OC (and CC for that matter). The cop got it with both barrels and the cop knew it. I know this because he crossed his arms and put his hand on his chin while he desperately searched his database.

As far as being "detained". The only time that a LEO can legally detain you is if he has "reasonable suspicion" that a crime has accrued, or will accrue, and you are involved in said crime (at least in CA, NJ, and Oh). If detained, you have the right to know why you are being detained.

The moron cop did the right thing....he left!

Personally I think that video is a great example of how we lose our rights. The guy was obviously trying to create a situation. He inserted himself into the situation and then tried everything he could to push his legal limits. He should have been detained the moment he was asked for ID and didn't produce it. I don't think the cop was a moron, I think he took the the path of least resistance as he, probably rightly, felt like the whole thing was a set up and wouldn't have a positive outcome for anyone involved.
