OC Highway Cleanup

Reported by the Fresno Bee:

Minn. group picks up road trash while packing heat

MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. -- Motorists in Mendota Heights might have seen a group of residents picking up trash while packing heat this weekend. About a dozen people spent nearly three hours picking up litter Sunday along a 2-mile stretch of highway. All legally carried guns on their hips. It was the inaugural trash cleanup event for the group that calls itself the Minnesota Carry Permit Holders.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation said the group is legal, and it appreciates their efforts to keep the roadside clean.

The group members met online and decided to get together and do something good for the community.

One member is Jason Walberg, who collected trash with a semiautomatic handgun on his belt. He jokes their adopted highway is the safest stretch of road in the state.

If only that had the same effect lol.

I know in WI there have been several OC Highway clean-ups. All of them have made local news (not for me I live too far away or I would have been there, but I was able to watch them on YouTube). It's a good way to get out and show people that carrying a gun does not make you a bad guy.

Now that is some proactive open carriers right there! Good for them! And by association, all of us as well.

Maybe we should all do more of this type of thing.

OC

Doug,
There are some places along Woodward where "brandishing" a firearm might be safer. LOL

GeorgiaCarry.Org has also done this in several Georgia counties. It sets a very good example.
