At what point while you are putting the cuffs on do you intend to be covering the perp with your weapon? If he is compliant enough to allow you to do that unarmed then you don't need them.
Too many assumptions, but thanks for the concern. I'm not about to be playing cop. Playing, on the other hand...

I used to have a pair of Peerless, but they're gone. So, it turns out they were a favored brand after all! I had often wondered if they were considered an "off brand."

Thanks for the info. Who's a good supplier online?

I use Peerless chains for EDC, find them quicker to cuff with. Have hinged Peerless in the war bag for transports.

I have had 2 pair of S&W cuffs since 1981. They were a "gift" from the owner of the first security company I worked for.

They got extensive use.

Oh sorry, I assumed as this was posted on a forum devoted to discussion pertaining to weaponry and tactics that you were asking something to do with those subjects.

I'll ask my wife later which shop it was we saw the 'play' handcuffs, I know it was in the Castro district of SF but I forget which store...

S&W and peerless. Just don't take em to the beach like a few of my former associates did. They don't work full of sand.

Another vote for Peerless and S&M, OOOH I mean S&W. Been carrying the same Peerless cuffs for over 20 years. I have seen a couple of officers carrying the new ASP. They seem pretty good so far. Just avoid Huitts (SP???).
