Interested in good handcuffs. Suggestions?
What are some good brands, models, prices and sources for handcuffs?
Pics encouraged. Online sources preferable, as I'm not likely to find many stores in this area that carry them, and the last two police supply stores I knew of are no longer there. Thanks! |

The only two that I use, Peerless and S&W.
I have not had anyone break out of them yet.

Same as Ron.
They cost around 30 bucks. S&W have a the doublelock feature on the face of them. If you put the cuffs on upside down with that facing the ground it can be a trick to unlock them on an unwilling suspect. On the Peerless the doublelock is on the side so it dosent matter which way is up...but its small and hard to see at night. If the suspect is acting the fool, it too can be difficult to hit that liitle 1/8" diameter hole with the key. In any case, they are pretty much the standard. If anyone every breaks out of them you'd better have some help... ![]()

I also have a set of the newer S&W (look cheesy to me vs. older ones) and Peerless hinged. |

I use Peerless AND Smith's, with the Peerless seeing more "action" than the Smith's. I don't know why...I guess it has something to do with the cuff pouch I use. I keep my Peerless cuffs in a Safariland model 090 cuff case. It is an open top pouch that is form fitted. The Peerless cuffs fit inside perfectly while the Smith & Wesson's seem to "hang up" and "Bind" a little because of their different construction.
When/if I buy a new pair, I'm goiing with the ASP cuffs! www.asp-net.com |

Unless you are paid to use them you have no good reason carrying cuffs, the liability for false imprisonment is high, you are not a cop.
At what point while you are putting the cuffs on do you intend to be covering the perp with your weapon? If he is compliant enough to allow you to do that unarmed then you don't need them. |
