New Training Tools

My co-worker saw this product this year at the shot show. It's a laser pointer that activates when you dry fire your weapon, so that you can see exactly where the round would have hit. Thought you guys might be interested in checking it out. (I may buy one later this year)...

Guy at club has one - saw it for first time not too long ago. Very nice piece of gear - and the ''target'' seems very ''smart''.

My thinking tho has been that it'll cost too much!

Chris,

I looked online at the website. It seems the kit, at least for pistols, runs right around $180 if you order it directly from them. This doesn't seem like it's that bad of a price for two reasons. If you consider that a day to the range is likely to cost me at least $50 in ammo, gas, and renting the lane (or a membership), that means that for the cost of a little less then 4 trips to the range, I get a unit that will allow me to "target" practice at home.

I know practice at home is NOT the same as actually putting ammo through the gun, however, practicing at home with a training unit like this allows you to work on things that you can't work on at the range for safety issues (at least you can't in my lovely state of NJ)

Just my 2 cents.

I still like this little gizmo and use it quite often. Last week they even called me (from Israel) on the telephone and asked me how I was enjoying the unit, was there anything that I didn't like about it, did I have any suggestions and thanked me for being their customer. I was impressed. I did tell them the only thing that conbcerned me was that you could not change the batteries after the 10,000 shot guarantee. He told me that in the next 2-3 weeks they would be releasing an improved version that had user changeable batteries. I bought mine directly from Rovatec at the SHOT Show ($156) and have really enjoyed it. It has also helped me improve my point shooting.

I wish I could remember the make of the one I reffered to - I know batteries are replaceable tho - IIRC supplied by manufacturer and pretty pricey!! I'll check out what make it is.

What I did like was the ability to draw and fire - thus not only getting good dry fire leather practice but - you knew when you got a hit and how good.
