Miggy,
These are specialty products you are not going to find at Walgreens or Wally World. I wouldn't think you'd find it locally even in FLA. unless you find a Backpacking store or maybe.... maybe a large Army Navy store that has extensive first aid supplies. (You may get your local pharmacist to order it, but I would suspect his mark-up would be quite a bit more than ordering from the sources I have listed) Below is the website of Z-Medica the manufacturer of QuickClot if you want to do research on the product and see the latest developments with the product http://www.z-medica.com/ Try these sites for purchase: Botach Tactical For Celox; also (QuickClot and QuickClot ACS 4X4's are at the bottom of the page!) http://www.botac.com/celox1.html Brigade Quartermasters Celox http://www.actiongear.com/cgi-bin/ta...priorcase=main QuickClot http://www.actiongear.com/cgi-bin/ta...priorcase=main U.S. Cavalry QuickClot http://www.uscav.com/search.aspx?Sea...s=1&CatID=5090 Alliance Medical (AllMed) Celox http://www.allmed.net/catalog/item/188/3266 QuickClot http://www.allmed.net/catalog/item/188/3267 http://www.allmed.net/catalog/item/188/2979 Galls Public Safety QuickClot http://www.galls.com/gaweb.dll Rescue Essentials Celox http://www.rescue-essentials.com/ser...category=CELOX It pays to shop around, you might save a few bucks on the product itself, or on shipping depending on where you buy!

i guess i didn't elaborate too much on that. it works great! ...but, yeah, you do have to make sure the wound is clean. be it through "chemical" means or purposely forcing it to bleed (natures way of flushing the wound, which is what i do first off). if bleeding is excessive enough to obviously flush it out, then an alcohol swab and super glue does work great. ...even if it's pretty darn deep. i am, however not claiming to be a doctor.

For the record, I'm not a physician and haven't stayed in a Holiday Inn Express since June!
Have used both loose Quikclot (and the new Quikclot ACS) as secondary, after direct pressure failed, for remote area injuries. On a remote West Texas 4X4 trail, he really didn't like the burning sensation when I poured it on the wound site, but I REALLY liked it when the bleeding stopped - first aid kit was emptied out (except for a few sticky adhesive strips), blood everywhere, and I was out of everything but my T-shirt and a belt ready to be a tourniquet at that point (and 40 loooong, shocky miles from a hospital.) Personal opinion, not to construed as medical advice, Quikclot ACS is what's in my bag now. |

quick clot
In my humble opinion, quick clot, and the Ackerman chest seal are your 2 most impotant things to have in a first aid kit. If you don't need to use one of those two, you'll probably live long enough to make it to the hospital.
