IDPA Mag Pouches

Can anyone point me in the right direction for IDPA approved mag pouches and other IDPA equipment? Preferrably in kydex. Thanks y'all.

Eric, just follow the Handbook.
Quote:
Magazine carrier must:
A. Be designed for concealed carry and suitable for all day
continuous wear.
B. Be worn on a standard belt of no more than 1 ¾” width that
must pass through the belt loops on the shooter’s pants.
C. Hold the magazine with enough tension to allow it to be
turned upside down and retain a fully loaded magazine.
D. Cover 2” of the magazine as measured from the top of the
cartridge rim down the back flat of the magazine tube
.

Fobus Mag pouch

As for holsters, they cannot be competition-type holster but geared to everyday carry. They must cover the trigger guard and retain the gun if turned upside down. Also they cannot have an excesive cant forward.

If you are going with an IWB, the holster must retain the hape as to make the reholstering of the weapon safe. If you draw your weapon and the "mouth" of the holster collapses, the holster is not valid for IDPA shooting.

There are a couple of nuances still, but If you are just starting just go ahead and get Fobus untill you survey what other shooters have and can make a better decission

Eric

I bought the Blade-Tec holster and their double mag holder from Midway awhile back. Holster works fine, but the double mag holder had problems.

I could not get both sides to have the same retention, since the only adjustment is a center tension screw. If the front holder was "just right" the rear was sloppy and if the rear was good, the front was to tight.

I used contact cement to glue a thin plastic insert into the rear holder, so now both have about the same tension. It took a bit of trial and error sanding on the insert to get it to the proper thickness. Should have been a better fit for the $44 I paid.

Suggest getting two single mag holders or ensure that each holder is adjustable separately if you get a dual holder.

I use a cheep (was less than $20) Fobus that is no where near as cool looking as the one above, and I have just been using the free XD gear Mag pouch.

Works well for me.

This guy on eBay sells Kydex mags for around $20. I have two sets one each for my Kahr and my Glock 26. I also had him make me a "custom" double mag pouch for my Kahr. All are pretty darn ice and do the job well. I also have seen him on the Glock talk website. Give him a try.

Ed,
I like the looks of those. Do you by chance, have his email address? I would like to get a double mag holder and a mag/tac light holder combo.

thanks,
Eric

Will have to agree with the Fobus for someone starting...just remember to use the paddle versions as their the only ones approved. Blade Tech is what I use, but for someone just starting, go with the Fobus and spend the extra money on practice ammo.
