At night my eyes will have adjusted...and I have some great night sights...
I would not be standing in the middle of the hall...
Don't really need the E2e in my home...the 125# Rhodesian can actually see quite well in the dark...

I do not think that the authors intent of his post was to show proper use of cover but to simply demonstrate what it looks like when you use a light.

Keep the light away from you. Use it sparingly and learn to point shoot.

Okay, so if there was a real situation that called for an armed confrontation in my home, the badguy would see this.

At night I always have my insight XML light attached to my XD40 sc, one less thing i have to grab. A quick flash will temporality blind the BG. It's nice having a light on my gun I feel more comfortable with it just in case.

other concerns I have with diminished light situations in a building are :
1. my eyes adusting going from total black too a very bright lighted area.
2. If one uses a light to get too the intruder, the intruder will see the light coming and be prepared prior to me finding him.
3. reflective surfaces like flat glass, like in pictures on the wall, mirrors, windows, patio doors and even tv screens.
They shoot the beam back at you and all over the place.

I have not had any formal training , but have wandered around in my home and at work in the pitch black with a couple of differant lights.

I had a customer tell that he had four switchs installed in his bedroom that controlled the lights in other parts of the house, so he can light'em up and hopfully they will depart the house prior to him investigating.

Tuck your arm in, its not a wing. Stand more to the rear of the door way. You are making to much of a target for the BG.
...and wheres your flashlight?
