Someone from another forum pointed me to http://www.dealextreme.com/products.dx/category.901 with a bunch of no name cree's and led lights real similar to Surefires but in the $20 range. If your like me $100 for a flashlight is hard to justify.

I spent about a year trying to decide on a light to buy for edc. As many of you know there are a lot of options out there and finally decided on a Nova-tac edc 120p. I am very happy with the light. Just another option for someone that might be in the market for their first edc light.

I don't carry one on me, but I keep a 4D cell MagLight next to the seat in my truck. I also have one next to my bed that I use at night if I hear something funny.

Another reason to carry a light--I was driving home from my son's soccer practice (about 7pm) when my truck went completely dark (while driving down a two-lane country road). I took out my Surefire E2D to light my way, and illuminate my truck so we wouldn't get hit. I was able to safely pull off to the side and one of the parents from the soccer team gave me jump. Turns out I had a loose connection on the battery...

Thus, I continue to carry a light. You never know when you might need it.

Something simular happened to me. I was on I16 in the middle of nowhere GA...It was about 2am and I was 1100 miles from home.

Someone saw my light and pulled over to help me. They were able to get my car running on the spot.

On my way home from Busch Gardens Howl-O-Scream last week with two of my friends, at 3am we came across a mulitple car accident caused by a drunk driver. A couple had pulled over to help just before us and the husband was struck and killed by another car, adding to the carnage. Sucks. But I had my Fenix L2D CE, gave my Rayovac 3W to one friend and my other friend (has CWL as well) had brought his Coast tactical 3W (on my request). Good thing we had enought light, since we were there before emergency personel. This is the third accident at night I had to use my light in. If we had my car, I'd also have a 4D Mag w/LED.

In each vehicle we have a high quality (night climbing) headlamp with a number of settings ... including flash. Plus med size Mag lites, Reflector vests and triangles, other rescue gear, EMT gear (former EMT current Wilderness FR) .. used the stuff too a few times.

My primary use to be a 6P but recently went to a Coastal (not sure of the model #) because it does a good job at under 50USD.

Usually carry when dark while not I have various pocket flashlights.

I am waiting to get a First Light Liberator which will not change my current habits but looking to keep this for home defense options along with simple chores were it is cumbersome to work with a regular flashlight.

One of the toughest things to me is keeping track of when to change batteries.

my absolute minimum for self-defense (and before I turned 21) was a Ka-bar TDI knife (I love these things, I have two) on the strong hand side and a Coast Cutlery tactical light (I have two also).

Now, I carry a 9mm as backup to the flashlight
