I chose the L1. It has a 65 lumen high mode and very nice low that is great for general puposes when you don't want to burn through batteries.
In fact, I have a plan to get an L1 just as soon as I get a new 1911. :) |

I like your tastes...but I have an E1L Great for everyday, LED and smaller than the 6P.

Wanting to stay married I chose to get a cheaper version which I find meets my needs quite well.
Visit WalMart, and find their flashlight section after you get your nachos. They sell a Ray-O-Vac green-anodized aluminum 3-watt LED flashlight that puts out 80 lumens and runs on a couple of AA batteries. I like the battery size, as I can recharge my own and keep the flashlight "topped up". The light output is amazing: on my farm, it lights up the barn a hundred yards away; indoors, it is way bright. At $25, you could get two or three for the cost of the "real" version. It is 5 5/8" long. Note: they also sell the same light with the one-watt LED for $14 or so. At one point I was looking at the 3 watt label on one package, and grabbed a package from the other hook since the appearance was similar. Luckily I read the package in my hand, too... and put it back for the higher output version. ![]() Last edited by Paymeister; December 7th, 2007 at 11:24 AM. Reason: added photo |

Standard G2 has worked quite well for me.
In my experience, the batteries will stay at close to full power, then fade a bit near the end, then suddenly die. Not like standard batteries where they slowly fade to nothing.

My experience as well. We tested about twenty tactical lights and they all did that, except for the LED types, they die very slowly.

6P LED rocks
I was once a little aghast at spending more than fifty dollars on a light. Now when I look at my 6PL (LED) [$84 at Lowes] and its perfectly centered hotspot and wide spillbeam that throws out a wall of light, I ask myself why I hadn't picked up a Surefire sooner. I've got a G2 incandescent under the Christmas tree, too. And for my birthday (a month away) Im getting either a G2L or E2L. Beautiful little gems.
Beware the Surefires. You won't be able to buy just one. I know this from experience. They are top-notch. |

For concealed carry, you want a small light with a lot of power. I personally also like a light with multiple power setings. The new L1's from SF (with the CREE LED's) are the best thing going.
As a SF dealer, I can have any SF I desire and my choice is the L1. C4 |

And if you really don't want to spend $35-100,000,000 on a light (like I tend to do
), the Rayovac Sportsman Xtreme (the one mentioned above) is also really good. I own two of those. About 65-70 lumens (says 80 on the packaging, thats not true), runs for about an hour and a half on two standard AA akalines. And durable too.Frankly, I own too many lights. ![]() |
