My understanding is that it is more about SHU (some unit of heat measurement) than %. Also check if your state has any limitations on %, MI allows only 2% for civilians. I don't recall texas having that limit, but I haven't lived there in a lot of years. Anyhow, I've taken a hit of the FOX labs 2% and it took me pretty well out of the fight.

Ok...maybe I didnt explain fully what my instructor said. He said of course if you are caught off guard and have only your Spray to use to defend yourself, then you can start spraying at him while backing up as fast (without falling) as you can to put some distance between you and the assailant, while working your handgun out of its confinement to use if the guy comes at you again, or starts firing a weapon. Any better?

Thanks for the help....I will search when I get home.

J&L Self Defense Products

Here is the link to their Key-Chain units.
Buy the Fox Labs. Their OC Spray is ALWAYS fresh.
http://www.selfdefenseproducts.com/s...me.php?cat=282
They have lightning FAST Shipping.
I will personally vouch for this company.
They are ultra reputable and polite.
Call them up & place a phone order.
Buy a couple more for your friends.
Absolutely SAFE to place a credit card order with them by phone.
I have been dealing with them for years now.
My credit card # has been on file with them for years.
Never any problems.

An advantage to the FOX LABS Key-Chain Units is that you can pop the bottom part that holds your keys off in case you need to go in somewhere where you cannot take OC Spray but you DO need to take your keys. You can pop your keys off and leave the OC Spray in the car.

OK I had to delete 6 Off Topic Comments out of this thread.

Please show some respect for the OP and the original thread question.

Please keep your comments On Topic to the thread.

This is not a thread about Hot Sauce & Tabasco Sauce.

I believe that we already have one of those running in Humor & Off Topic.

Please keep the pepper eating comments and the LOLs over there.
Thank You.

I bought some Punch II. It's only 5%, but it's what some of the local police use. My wife carries Sabre Red.

Thanks for everyone's help.

Suggestions

I've ordered a pile of them from J&L over the past few years.

Suggestions:

Fox Labs units are slightly overfilled when they are initially loaded and then each is individually tested.
So Don't test them.
They will work when you need them.
Part of what you are paying for when you buy them is that they already are pre-tested to work.
You'll just be wasting product if you test them.

Also the way they are shipped from J&L you might need to slide the top lever over to "SAFE" and then carefully push the bottom of the cannisters all the way up into the case the last 1/8" or so.

Also make sure the bottom cap is snapped in hard all the way after you get your keys on the ring.

Glad that you bought extras.
I sure have given a lot of them away to friends and family that won't carry a firearm for one reason or another.
My logic being that something is always better than nothing.

You want hot?
Search out DPS spray...works at 10-15 feet away!

Stay armed...use DPS...stay safe!
