grips for a Derringer

A friend acquired a Tanarmi TA38 and decided he didn't like the white plastic cheapie grips that came with it. So I offered to practice my grip making skills.

These are cut from a small block of bubinga. The red is the heartwood and the white is the sapwood (I might have that backwards). They are coated with one application of tung oil. I'll be putting on a second coat in the morning, that should shine them up a little more.

Before I turn them over to him... whaddya think?

They look great to me. I have a little derringer that may need a set of those eventually.

John, I think you are too modest. At least in the PM to me you were. You have made, what, two sets for 1911s and one for the derringer. Already you are a pro. Talent is talent - use it. I think that they look terrific.

ALways a pleasure to see the work of a true craftsman. Those grips are gorgeous!

Beautiful Job!
One of my favorite woods. Tough stuff.
They look just great on the gun.
