Good cheap target find

I hope this is the place that this fits. Appologies if not.

My girlfriend bought a big stack of wrapping paper at the local Hallmark store for our Christmas needs and while wrapping stuff I noticed that it is printed with a 1 inch grid on the back of the paper. For all you long range rifle shooters, or those that need to pattern your shotguns (and you know you've been putting that off ) Give this stuff a look when you get dragged to the after Christmas sales. Last year it was like 99 cents a roll on sale and theres enough to pattern dozens of loads much easier than counting circles or dragging out a yardstick.

Besides, it will be good for your frustration level

Merry Christmas

Want to know what I use for targets? Pizza box tops! Pizza hut, Mazzio's, Little Ceasar's---they all sponsor my shooting activities! You know those useless CD's you have laying around or can pick up for free in the check-out line? Use those and a magic marker and draw the circle outline and do the small hole in the middle for a bullseye! I'm lovin' it!

The (roughly) 2'x3' newsprint quality packing paper that all of your mail orders come with also make good targets. A $.99 marker will give you bulls-eyes, cross-hairs, bad guys/gals, terrorists, small woodland creatures...the possibilities are endless.

Another tip

We have had some success with making cheap shoot, no-shoot training targets by downloading pictures of guns, knives, badges, cameras, cell phones, Coke cans, etc, and blowing them up to life size. Paste some of these on a shilouette target and make up your own scenarios. If you have access to a copier (such as at work, for example) you can also copy your open and closed hand while you are making hundreds of copies of other stuff and make up plenty of challenging scenarios.

And as for packing materials, we are working on a target that falls when hit in a vital area. We use the little plastic air-filled bags that are used to ship stuff. We're working on a target that has a holder in the head, chest, or hips that will hold the target up with one of these (free) bags, and will fall when it's popped. Not 100% yet...

I download free targets from the internet and print them on "card stock". Card Stock are sheets made for do it yourself greeting cards. You can get 150 sheets for about $5 at WalMart or anywhere that sells office supplies.

You can make a really nice sturdy target for pennies.
