That does look like a very good light!

Have a wide range of tatical flashlights/weapons lights, and I don't consider any brand X I've tried/own worthy, including a new Fenix L2D (Cree). Despite the claims of greater lumens for example, the new Fenix L2D doesn't even match the 2nd generation L1 in real world use. The problems are usually the lack of a momentary tailcap and poor griping surface, poor quality lenses on some.

Of all the lights I have I'd give Surefire and the Blackhawk Gladius my top marks. Surefire is pricey, though some are almost reasonable now, but worth every penny to me. Streamlight products are a close second. Others may have different opinions.

SureFire..

I bought a 6P LED at Lowes a few weeks back, it was my first surefire purchase... and it won't be my last!!! The craftsmanship is above any light I have ever had my hands on... It is now my edc light in a holster on my side. You will have to purchase the holster from surefire.

I'd have to agree with you on the non-momentary tailswitch and poor gripping surface on the L2D CE (a different tailswitch is available IIRC). However, it is my opinion that the size, battery type, runtime, output and price make this one heck of a light when compared to a Surefire. Would I want it while fighting in Iraq? No. Would I want it as an EDC? Yes, and it has been for a while. Now it supplements my T1 and LOD.

I guess it depends on what you want. Example: I'm ok with buying a $100 Bushnell red dot for my AR and not spending $500 on a "combat proven" optic. I'm not in combat and I'm sure they they would both do the same at what I would put them through. Just like I'm ok with my $400 S&W M&P instead of a $1000 HK MK23. So I get the less expensive one that will accomplish the same thing for me and use the money saved in other areas.

Try out a T1 and see how you like it. I'd like to see a good comparison between it and a Surefire.

I wish that Surefire would put as much effort into making newer and brighter lights as Fenix does. To me they seem a little behind the ball.

*Note* I like both Fenix and Surefire lights. Which do I trust my life to: Surefire.

Remember, guys and gals, that Surefire lumens ratings are mostly real-world accurate, and their lights are rated when they are in the middle of use, not from the beginning, as do most light makers. They also consistently underrate their lights. When you have a 65 lumen Surefire G2, your undoubtebly getting about 80-75 or more lumens the first ten minutes or so. About a third of the way through the battery life, then you'll hit 65 lumens. I've found that I get about an hour's worth of tactical level light from a G2 when I use it for short 5 minute bursts (i.e. what a tactical light is supposed to do -- short bursts).

The new Fenix T1 (sweet looking light, btw) has a turbo mode that they say is 225 lumens. Maybe at the LED emitter. Its probably about 170 lumens overall. Definitely not 225. Thats what I call false advertising.

Im not knocking Fenix, its just I prefer incandescent, American made tac lights when I have to trust my life to a light. I don't mind the incan's battery life (cause I only use them for short periods), and I like the whiter light. I can't see a thing past 50 feet with an LED, and I have a Surefire 6PL and G2L.

I own 5 Surefires and 3 Fenix [Fenii ??, plural]. I carry Surefire. I play with Fenix. Nuff said. Let the flaming begin.

I use the E2E and the Aviator. Love 'em both. If you have the time to wade thru a SERIOUS review of several flashlights, go over to this link at 10mm Talk.

My newest edc is a Surefire 6P with a Malkoff devices drop in. This, in my opinion, is the best setup out there. The drop in costs as much as the 6P, but it's worth it. Output is 220 lumens with a run time of 3 hours.

I just got my Q5 270 lumens CREE LED Bulb 6P 9P Surefire Flashlight bulb assembly that I purchased via Ebay from Hong Kong today. I've had the 9P for at least 10 years and it's never put out this much light. I must say I'm very impressed. With shipping it cost me $22.99 and well worth the money. Their Ebay name is scopeandlaser. Usually I try to keep my purchases limited to stateside but I just couldn't find anyone that could come near this price. The shipping was only $3. Why can I not get someone from the states to ship that cheap. Seems like most of them want to charge $9.95 or more.
