Assuming it is one of the Euroarms reproductions, it is a 1 in 48" twist.
It's actually a Brit Parker Hale repro - nicely made piece - 48 sure does sound real familiar. Thanks.

Yep - that's it Archer and thanks. As I said - sounded familiar.

Never actually tried ball from it - just Minnie. I did tho modify my mini castings to make them more hollow and so get better obturation, even tho the bullet is lighter. In second pic tho it is apparent how easily the ''skirt'' can be upset after my modification - see the ''ding'' between 12 and 1 o'clock!.

That is why I made a wood holder for the pre-lubed bullets - to keep them in good shape (see last pic). It's well past time I went and shot some more of these but oh dear - the cleaning.......... !!!

A search for ski tube on Google came up with: SporTube hard cases. Looks like they'll fit the rifle. It even has wheels to assist hauling it around the airport. I'd think doing up the rifle in bubble wrap would protect it nicely inside the tube, finished of with a TSA-spec lock.

Thanks, I visited the Dundee store and was informed that Cabela's does not carry anything that would be long enough for the rifle..

That's strange. I just got a Cabela's (print) catalog and they have a "Flightproof Case", 63" long. It's item number XX-21-6147. And the price is $229.99.

Ah well, I could have just talked to the new guy, or maybe he meant that they didn't have one in stock.

Not a huge deal. Its not like I left the store empty handed,

try looking at some electronic keyboard flight cases. They make some long and lockable ones. Not to reccomend this one (its expensive!) but something in this style:

Buy Gator G-Tour 88 Keyboard Flight Case online at Musician's Friend

# Weight: 48.4˙lbs
# Interior dimensions: 19"W x 6.625"H x 59"L

try craigslist classifieds: jobs, housing, personals, for sale, services, community, events, forums to see if there are any used?
