Looks like one the BGs could tote off rather easily to me! Personally, I don't really care for the idea of having my pistol in a safe! I want that hummer where I can use it if I need it and not looked up in some safe!

There will be times you may not have that option and it is best to have a contingency plan.

these type of boxes are to keep the children out, and still provide quick access to your firearm if mounted to the floor beside you bed. I think they do a good job for that purpose. If u dont already have a real gun safe, I would plan on it. SOmething fireproof that weighs no les than 700lb, and still bolted to the floor. All safes can be cracked, but it wlll keep out most of your crackheaded smash and grabs.

I have one of them. Not really a "safe", but it's a good way to keep the kids or a visitor from just picking up your gun. It comes with a mounting plate you bolt down to a solid object then the "safe" attaches with a couple of internal latches. Wouldn't stop anybody with a crowbar from popping it off quickly, but that's what my "real" safe is for. I purchased a couple extra mounting plates and installed one in the trunk of each vehicle, so I have a relatively secure place to lock my gun if I have to leave it in the car for some reason.
It works fine for it's intended purpose, ie keeping the gun out of the hands of the kids, etc. while allowing from quick access for you, but it would barely slow down a determined thief. |
