Driveway Alarm

I wanted to let you good guys know about a product that I am very pleased with that helps with home security. It is a wireless driveway alarm that has a relay which I wired into our doorbell. Whenever a car or person comes down our 400 foot long driveway it rings our doorbell in a unique way. We have had very few false alarms, our horse set it off and the neighbors large dog set it off. But placement can minimize those false alarms. It has its own internal buzzer but it was not loud enough so I wired it to the doorbell. I just replaced the batteries after 9 months or so but the ones I removed checked out to still have plenty of juice. Here is a link to Amazons offer of the device:

Nice

I use a system by Optex. 4 rf zone transmitters, each with a distinctive ring. The 4th has a dry set of contacts that you can use to trigger other things (like maybe turn on the electric fence).

Optex Wireless 1000 Series Annunciator System : TD-10U , RC-10U , TS-10U, RG-10U , and RCTD-10U Kit

FYI on zone 4; It is a latching circuit - once activated it will remain in that state until manually reset by human intervention. So if you hook it up to an air raid siren and go on vacation, expect some ill will from the community, LOL.

That's a nice price IMO. Any way you could have it call your cell phone when it detects?

I also have the Optex system and have it located under my back deck facing down. Very few false alarms and it gives me a extra few seconds to wake up from a sleep.

Awesome! Thanks for the link(s). Boy--the list sure grows alot on here. I would call it the Christmas list (the wife told me what she wanted for Christmas today), but with the possible gas prices come December of this year---I think we're going to enjoy summer instead. I've also been looking into a temperature alarm for the fridge that will auto-dial me if the beer starts getting over 34°.

Sorry to go off topic,
Here is your solution for the Beer!

one of the options is an Optional auto dialler that can call pre-programmed phone numbers for remote alarm monitoring

TEMP°Track® - Products: P2P and P2MP

My best alarm are my two dogs! They hear mosquitos coming up the driveway. But after that, I do have a hard-wired alarm system for the house, with calls to police if I'm not home, or punch the panic button.

After that.... there's always the 12 gauge.
