No Joke,

Whatever size of safe you think you need now, double it's size.

It's actually best if you buy a safe larger than you need now and then double that size. I'm in need of my second safe in five years, as I've overflowed the 16 Gun safe I bought five years ago.

Next year I'm going to look at a Double Door Safe.

Check out your local Costco. In Kalifonia they have a few, but it depends on your area.

Might keep the childs hands off the weapons but a crook is in that quick.

After watching those guys on YouTube get into a major safe quickly, Im rethinking my plan.

They may be good to have to protect against fire and flood but I dont think any of them will deter a crook if you live outside of town and in a place where once they are in the house they will have plenty of time.

Guns and more
My advice would be to buy one twice as big as you need. They fill up fast. It will also be the best buy for the money.
I, too wanted a $750 safe and bought a $1600 Champion. I'm glad I did.
Shop for local safe dealers and go there in person. Ask about delivery, ask about used safes.
I had mine delivered for $125 and they earned every penny. The tools and gadgets made it a piece of cake (800#).
The dealer also made me an extra shelf, using the same carpet, and didn't charge me.
It's a good investment, get one.

Look at used. I picked up a used 6000lb Amsec safe that was surplus to a bank's needs. You'd get depressed if you found out how little I paid for it. See the separate thread I started for what happens when you can't find the combination.

I bought a safe on craigslist for 75.00. It is a little larger than a two drawer file cabinet. It now holds approximately 3K of ammo and five pistols. No long guns, but for the price it works for me. Full I would bet it weighs 300 pounds. Pretty hard to run down the street with that.

I ended up with a Cannon. Nice safe. But if I could have, I would have gotten a Zanotti.
