No. No clip. I was just wanting a light to carry IN my pocket or on my key chain. I may order one at some point. Im thinking of getting a d10 also. I got to play with it a little last night and am pleased. For its size this thing is crazy bright! It also goes real low to. Awesome little light.

I thought the piston drive lights were a little big for my keychain. The fenix ld01's about as big as I feel comfortable with. The D10's great, just picked one up for pinnacle flashlights. Uses common and cheap AA batteries and puts out tons of light. I'd get the clip tho.

Well I received my Fenix PD30 today. I just got back from a late evening walk on an unlit walking/bike path... WOW! This is one very nice light! It's small enough that there's no reason not to be carrying it and bright enough to illuminate 40 yards in front of you like daylight. (okay, a little exaggeration there...) I could easily see if anyone else was on the path at that distance and maybe a little further and like already mentioned, a very nice round spot of light. The PD30 is a very good light and I'm glad to have added it to my gear.

I carry the predecessor to the Novatac, the HDS EDC U85.

The HDS EDC design was purchased by Novatac, then the designer went back to selling lights under his own brand which is now Ra Lights.

Mine is currently outfitted with an 18650 lithium ion battery pack, and stainless steel bezel with tritium inserts. I also have a 2x123A and 1x123A battery pack and carry the 2x123A pack for spare power, but never have had to use it.

Regarding initial output, as Todd mentioned, you have to choose what works best for you. The HDS Ultimate series, like the Novatac "P" series are quite programmable, but you still must make some choices. They have four easily accessible and customizable output levels. Runtime on low output levels can be nearly forever.

I have mine set to start at 60 lumens (slightly less than the 85 lumen max).

If Todd didn't want the strobe first, he could set the initial setting to whatever output he wanted, and if he then held the button down, it would go to full power. For example, he could set the initial output to 30 lumens, and then when he held the button down he'd get the full 120 lumens.

Also, if you want to "start" with a different setting, you can just hold the light against yourself, and click the number of times for your setting before exposing the light. I do this all the time to get my .3 lumen ultra low setting at night w/o blinding myself.

This light hasn't left my pocket for about four years now.
