Poll - How Important is a Tactical Light to You?

My M&P has a two-slot Picatinny rail equipment mount. I'm ready to buy a tactical flashlight and am giving strong consideration to the NovaTac 120E. However, it doesn't attach to my gun.
The price of the light is over a hundred dollars plus shipping - not peanuts. So I'd like to make an efficient purchase. How much do you weigh the importance of having a tactical light that attaches to your handgun?

I would never carry a tactical light that attaches to my gun unless I was also carrying a handheld light. A light on your gun is never a substitute for a handheld light. Otherwise there is a huge temptation to point your gun at something you're not sure is a threat in order to illuminate it.

I think a handheld light is very versatile, and for that reason I would prefer it over a WML. However, I certainly would carry a WML over no light at all.

I have both bu there was no option for this. I mount a x200 Surefire at night and carry a E1L EDC. The E1L also goes on the nightstand next to the X200 at night for primary searching absent target ID. Search Ebay...youmay be able to afford both depending on good deal and your budget.

I voted for a non WML as an EDC. Tactically it is much better, more useful and safer than a WML. Of course, this is JMOYMV.

Please explain "primary searching" with two lights.

Lights are an important defensive weapon, but what would you do if the WalMart roof collapsed and you were in instant darkness...are you prepared?

If I have my sidearm, I have my L4 Luma Max by SureFire.

I prefer a handheld over a WML. Surefire is my brand.

I have a TLR-1 on my SD weapon in my nightstand. I also have a couple of other lights which gives me more options.

I have both kinds of light but I don't keep a tactical light on my weapon. I prefer to have a separate light that I carry.
