I love my Surefire E1L, had a E2e first no its my GF's light. I do like the looks of the Novatac 120P, Probably try one of those next. These little high powered lights do get pricey, but are an investment and worth every penny IMO. That Fenix PD30 is also nice.

I recommend 4sevens.com, they have a good selection, and excellent customer service. You should be able to find a fenix light for a particular battery type and output you want at a good price. My E20, L0D (keychain), and P3D have all been very reliable.

Fenix LD-20. Two AA batteries, 180 lumens, 6 different modes inlcuding high strobe. This is the secret to thislight -it is a perfect force multiplier. CAn be used to inflict real damage as a defensive tool.

I've got lights from most of the big names and I think my next one will be the Streamlight TL-2 LED. 130ish lumens, 2.5 hour run time, high mode only which is what I prefer in a defensive light. I don't want to turn the place in to a disco with a strobe if I'm trying to light something up to identify it.

I was always a Surefire guy, but Streamlight is starting to get more of my business all the time. Check it out, I think you'll like it. Oh and it's only around $60.

I'm still drooling over the Inova Inforce line myself - there is something to be said about having access to multiple levels of white, red, blue, green, and IR output but still keeping the light dead simple to operate.

Yeah I know it goes against the grain of the tactical lights we all love, but for a cheap, durable, easy to carry but "low power" (24 lumens) pen flashlight that takes 2 regular AAA batteries, try the Streamlight 66118 which is under $19 at Amazon.

I've never spent $50 on any flashlight,.. But the LED lights that I have all seem to have the same problem.. They cut out for no good reason,. Anyone know how to fix that?

Since you're talking CCW I'm assuming you're looking for small... Check out the EagleTac P10C. It's by far the brightest single 123A light out there! Just as bright as my TK10 on turbo and it clips in my pocket like it's not even there. A little longer than my Nitecore EX10 but WAY brighter!

LED lights require driver circuitry to operate. Some lights offer very good current regulation and stay as bright as they can until the battery is completely drained - and then drop down to nothing, very suddenly. This describes most of the tactical lights out there, where max output is more important than long runtime. If you are using a light for long term, it must be designed to gently and gradually step down the output as the battery capacity is drained. Several lights on the market do this - the Rogue lights by Icon and the HDS/Novatac/RA lights come to mind.

The Rogue 1 and Rogue 2, in fact, are pretty good buys - fairly inexpensive, run on AAs, but using a very well designed regulation and driver circuit.
