After reading many reviews, I went with a Fenix PD20 for my EDC. I would've went with the PD30, but I wanted the smaller pocket carry. I just ordered it from a power seller on ebay. $49 with free shipping and a free panasonic cr123 battery. (Also includes holster) Smokin deal if you ask me...
can't beat it for the price & functions... Features: * Utilizes a Premium (Q5) Cree 7090 XR-E LED with a life of 50,000 hours * Two modes of output, selected by turning the bezel * General Mode: 9 lumens (35hrs) -> 47 lumens (6.5hrs) -> 94 lumens (2.6hrs) -> SOS * Turbo Mode: 180 lumens (1hrs) -> Strobe * 15 days of survival use (2 continuous hours per day on the lowest setting) * Digitally Regulated for Constant Brightness * Uses one 3V Lithium CR123A battery (not included) * 88mm (L) x 21.5mm (D) * Made of T6 aircraft grade aluminum * Durable Type III hard anodized finish * 39 gram weight (excluding batteries) * Waterproof to IPX-8 Standards * Toughened ultra clear glass lens with AR coating * Push-button tailcap switch * Capable of standing up securely on a flat surface to serve as a candle * Battery not included * Includes a holster, lanyard, two spare o-rings, and a rubber switch boot. |

PD20 is a great light, but you give up a proper momentary switch to get all those modes.

While they are sold at a good price with decent output, the Dorcy/River Rock/Nuwai/etc. lights out there are best used around the house - and left there.
Carry a light built to a higher standard when you're staking your life on it. OMO, but there's a reason I don't buy discount brakes and tires for my car - and it is the same reason I buy quality flashlights.

Okay, I got the Fenix PD-20 in and I am VERY pleased with this little power house of a flash light.
It produces a very hot white light on turbo mode, and outside when I walk the dog, it lights up the grass like daylight! haha The PD-20 is very small. As you can see in the pictures, it is only 3.25" long x .75" in diameter. (Perfect for pocket carry or holstered on your belt) The package came with the flashlight, holster, lanyard, extra 0-rings, and an extra button. My flashlight also came with a free panasonic CR123A battery. It also has a 2-year manuf. warranty. All for $49 shipped. When you press the reverse clicky button, the turbo mode puts out a very focused bright beam of light with a large peripheral glow. It can easily light up an entire hallway or bedroom if you shine it at the ceiling. Click it again and it emits a fast pulse strobe. Turn the bezel and it cuts the power down to 9 lumens for general purpose stuff, and then each subsequent half-click ups the power in increments, and finally S.O.S mode. The only thing I don't like is that the draw from the included holster is quite cumbersome. Maybe over time, the holster will break in, but right now..the flashlight gets hung up on something inside the holster. I didn't have any other flashlights with me to compare it to, except for a cheap husky 9-LED flash light. I know everyone has seen these, so I thought I'd just post some comparison pics. Size wise, you can see the fenix is much smaller. Brightness wise, there is no contest. For performance & price, I really think Fenix lights are a great value! I am positive that a surefire unit of equal performance would easily cost triple or quadruple the price. ![]() ![]() ![]() typical 9-LED flash light ![]() Fenix PD-20 ![]() |

Yes, that is impressive. As a flashlight newbie, after polling the forum, I ordered the Novatac 120T (120 lumens down to single-digit lumens with a few simple clicks). I couldn't be happier with it.
