I keep this in my Harley front pocket, in my car dash, and on my person...

J & L, Pepper Spray, DPS Sprays, DPS Duty Sprays

I've had just a 'bit' of it in MY eyes...it's HOT!

I don't like the ones with a twist cap because when holding it in "safe" condition the natural position is for the nozzle to be pointing straight out. However, as soon as you twist the cap, the nozzle points about 30 degrees off center and under stress you'll likely to forget to re-align it and you'll miss your target.

I like the ones with a flip top cover and all you have to do is push the button down.

I too like the flip top models,
our issued ASR has the "cop top" model-open top...whoever thought that up, and none of us like them, we've had way too many ADs of spray in the leather holsters due to extreme bending/pressing against objects, etc....and the spray concentrated running down the front of your pants/leg is not very pleasant in the middle of the shift
I'd rather have the flip top like I've purchased for home use/wife use/before I became LEO

If loose gun laws are good for criminals, why do criminals support gun control?

I carry Fox CS foam most of the time so that I won't get blowback.

I have no experience, but it would seem to me that the foam in the mouth and eyes would deter a dog better than spray. Anyone with experience?

Regards,
Jerry

I second the recommendation of foam or gel, especially outdoors.

I've deployed OC on a dog twice and they turned tail and took off, was conical shaped spray
I can testify the foam sucks to be sprayed with (in certification)
foam takes longer to "kick in", spray is almost immediate, but foam stays with ya longer than spray

Fox labs! Out of all the O.C. sprays I've used, Fox is the best.

My wife uses Fox Labs ASP spray. it's a spray in a mini baton essentially. It can be used up to 5 times with 1 second spurts I believe?

Just a quick bit of advice. Once you get whatever, check the expiration date and get rid of it when it expires.

Earlier today I finally got around to dealing with 3 containers that had expired 8-9 years ago. Two of them didn't have enough pressure left to push the steam more than two or three feet. The other, a larger can, still worked but had two issues. It didn't seem potent when I emptied it in my back woods, and I realized the design of the trigger was such that it would have been hard to use in a real emergency.

So pick carefully taking into account speed and ease of use, and get rid of expired stuff.

P.S. After I sprayed the stuff on the ground in my back yard, dawg decided to
investigate. For a few seconds there she looked like she was having an asthma attack. I had to hose her down and get a wet towel and wipe her face. My wife came home just as I was putting the finishing touches on cleaning the dog's face. Fortunately, she didn't see what dawg looked like after getting a whiff.
