The following was the result of using pepper SPRAY indoors, whereas pepper GEL is safe to use indoors, because a gel doesn't disperse into the air like a spray:

nice quotes defensive, good examples of what can happen
but the pepper spray itself didn't kill anyone, it was the idiots stampeding, not a full justification for not using it IMO also, this same effect has been used at our department (and others all over the country) for a good reason...dispersing 30-40 people crowding in on 3 officers in a night club parking lot, thankfully all of us were using spray and repelled the pests cause it was about to get real real ugly, our next step would have been baton/hand-fighting with 3 officers against 30 people or worse.....starting to shoot 'em one man's disadvantage is another man's efficient tool I hope the OP can understand this from this thread, I can't contribute much more so I'm done

The pepper spray caused a massive number of cases of burning eyes, difficult breathing, gagging etc. Anybody familiar with the effects of pepper spray knows that it's pretty nasty stuff. People instinctively ran to get away from it. Nothing "idiotic" about it. The REAL IDIOTS were the security personnel who very unwisely used pepper spray indoors, and were ultimately responsible for the deaths. Needless to say, the owners of the night clubs faced dozens of lawsuits. Seeing the strong adverse effect the pepper spray had on MANY patrons of night clubs that were thousands of square feet in size, just think of the effect it would have on somebody using it in a small space like a bedroom, hallway or bathroom in their home. Using pepper spray indoors in a home may very well cause the user and his loved ones to succumb to the very thing they thought would protect them. Quote:
So your example of an incident that occurred outdoors isn't relevant to my original point, which still stands.
