Other than a pocket knife it's my pistol.
I can carry a handgun unrestricted in NYS but not with any knife that might be considered to be a dangerous weapon.

I carry two knives, a Leatherman and a Kershaw Blk Stainless Vapor. I use them both, but find myself using the knife on the Leatherman more often. I guess my excuse is I don't like spoiling the edge on the Kershaw with mundane tasks.

Kershaw Leek

My BUK (back up knife) is a $10 2 1/2" Winchester for general purpose beating up cardboard boxes etc. The feds don't consider it a dangerous weapon, but I still try to be VERY careful with it.

Well, folks got tired of me shooting packages open, and shooting branches to prune them, so I got a knife.

OK, seriously, yes, I have carried a knife virtually everywhere, daily, since at least high school. I don't have fangs, I don't have claws, I have knives. Very, very basic stuff.

Tactical? None of my knives have Picatinney rails, red dot sights, or slings mounted on them, so perhaps they are not very tactical. I reject the T-word when it comes to knives, even those knives that have very strong locks, or are sturdy enough to lop off limbs.

I've carried a pocket knife of some kind practically everyday since I was 6, when my parents let me have the little Woodsman knife my grandfather gave me as a birth gift. (sadly, after 3 moves in 4 years, I cannot find that knife)

I consider a knife to be a daily use tool (and I usually do find a use for it daily), although occasionally I'll carry two, a 'good' one and a beater, I always try to have one. Mainly because every time I've forgotten it or couldn't carry it I needed it.

As to the gun, it's just another tool with another purpose, once I realized I might need one and became eligible to carry it, I've carried it just like the knife...because if my experience is correct, when I forget to carry or can't, I'll need it.

BTW, fortunately, I don't find a use for the gun on daily basis like I do the the knife...

Kimber Pro BP Ten II .45ACP IWB at my 5:30.

Kershaw Tanto Blur

clipped to right front pocket with beat-up Swiss Army knife inside pocket.

BIC lighter in left front pocket (sometimes with spare 13-round Kimber mag).

Six feet of black paracord wrapped around right wrist. Cell phone in leg pocket.

I carry the knives because shooting off a hunk of paracord is too noisy.

I usually carry a pocket knife. It wouldn't be considered a 'tactical' knife for my purposes, but it could be at the drop of a dime. I felt no reason to vote in this poll.
