I carry a knife constantly along with a lighter.
I believe that we as humans shouldn't be so quick to rid ourselves of our first basics when it comes to tools... Besides, you'll use the knife much more than the gun, so why not?

I've carried a knife since I was a kid. I always have one but not for tactical purposes.
Right now I'm carrying a Byrd Meadowlark Rescue that I modified to a Wharncliff just because I like them.

In addition to a customized Gold Cup, I carry a Columbia River M-21. Not the cheapest knife I've ever owned, but boy do I love it. Additionally, I find that it scares the H**l out of a BG when I've had to pull it.

About the only time I don't carry one or the other is when I'm flying...
