Wow! That's a real bummer. You may be able to get a new key from the manufacturer by the serial number on the safe. Locksmith will cost a bit, but you'll be in sooner. Keyed safes.........hmmmm. Does this take one of those round, hollow keys with tabs? Or an actual key key?

Edit; Ram Rod had a point. I am not sure you can get a replacement, except from the manufacturer, for one of those round keys. Double edit; I saw it once where it was cheaper to buy a new cabinet lock then to have the smith make me a new key. That guy was crazy, but ask for price before having him do it. |

It's one of those round, hollow keys. That's a good point - I'll call the goodwill store. |

If no luck at goodwill, manufacturer should be able to send you a new key off the number on the lock.

If its the round hollow key with the simple barrel type mechanism you should be able to drill it out and replace for cheaper than a locksmith. I have had to do it on my toolboxes a couple times when I lost the keys. Its pretty simple to drill and change em.

Those locks are nickel plated brass, easy to drill out and replace.

I wasn't going to say it, but I was thinking it. Love my Patriot.

Its not amazingly hard to drill out a lock, I have had to do it on tool boxes and a lock to get into my basement. I agree, call good will first, if thats a no-go, scope out the price on some locks, and thumb through the yellow pages.

This video talks about picking a 7-pin tubular lock, and then making a new key for it.
