It is down to the individual posting to ensure safe standards and to readers to verify what they read - it is they finally who bear responsibility for useage of information. Remember - typos can occur! We strongly recommend that in most cases quoted loads be derived from recognized loading manuals and if possible these should be referenced. Where loads do not have back-up reference data available, for instance with use of an unusual powder, then posters are asked to please detail their method for establishing their data. Irresponsible publishing of unsubstantiated ''guestimated'' data is deprecated and may be heavily moderated. |

I have the Lee Starter kit and have beem using it for 5 years. I reload mainly .38/.357, 9mm, .45 Colt, 7mm Rem Mag, .30 carbine, and .308 Win.
I started these in the order listed and just added 308 last year. A couple of hours on a Saturday well spent reloading, it keeps me off the streets ![]()

I started reloading when I was 14 back in the early seventies. Started loading 410 shotgun shells with a $10 Lee loader. Still have it, still occasionally use it. Didnt crimp the shells just tucked a precut cardboard wad over the shot and went starling slaying.
If my kids ever show an interest in serious shooting that will be the starting point for them. Buy the loader, a pound of powder, a hundred primers, a hundred bullets of a larger caliber(Its just easier) and just load a few at a time to take with you to the range to compare to what you already shoot. You will see and feel proper primer seating depth. You will see and clean up after dirty powders and feel the magnum levels go up as you weigh out different recipes. You wont lose the urge to reload , but you will look at them with a bit more education. Its also something fun to do in bad weather.

Does anybody actually have any experience with this kit? What else (other then manuals) would I actually need to start?

I don't have the KIt you are refering too. Mine is an 15+ years old and I bought it used.
I shopped aroung and got the reloading manuals. ABC's of Reloading, Speer Reloading manual, Hornady reloading... and my Granddads 1960's Fedearl reloading manual which kept my safe using weak loads when I first got started. Hope this helps
