I'm picking out scales, reading the reviews on Midway and Cabela's, reading a couple of other places but thought I'd ask here. I have it narrowed down to four choices:
RCBS 502 $59.99 at Midway
RCBS 505 $71.99 at Midway
Hornady Model M 50.99 at Midway
Dillon Eliminator $49.95
Is there any practical difference in these? The Hornady is described repeatedly as being "easy to read." That is a plus for me. I keep thinking that the 505 MUST be better...it cost more...but can't tell the difference. I've pretty much ruled out electronics. I will be doing, at most, 2-3 different loads for .45 with no switching, etc. Everybody has a favorite that is the best because it works for them. If you have a particular reason or favorite outside these, I'm interested.
I'm getting started in reloading on a SDB after learning on a single stage years ago.

Dillon does sell an electronic scale - made ''elsewhere'', of course! It is IIRC a bit over $100 but I have found mine very useful - even tho I still use my RCBS beam unit as well at times.

Bought a Redding Model #2 balance beam scale. This Redding scale raplaces another Redding scale that i literally wore out over 40 years of use. This is a very good scale.

Beware of any balance beam scale that has a plastic base. The ones that i tried and sent back were very static sensitive.

FWIW, I've always used RCBS scales.

Here's a tip, again FWIW, for using a balance beam scale: place the scale on a solid, dead level surface at eye level. Reading the scale at eye level eliminates parallax.

Oh, man...I hate to admit it but I thought the same thing at one point...and it made sense is what is scary. I saw a couple of photos of reloading set-ups here with everything Dillon blue, even the decorations. It would probably make my wife happy...and I have been known to bleed Springfield blue, that's close.
And now I've added that Redding to the list.

Okay, found a deal on a local purchase Hornady M. It does look easy to read. I have to tell you, though, the quality is not that of the RCBS I had many moons ago. Check weights and an eye-level shelf are probably in order. I'm probably going to regret not just spending more...I usually do when I don't.
