Well...just traded my XD40 for a Dillon RL550B. Now I gotta figure out what the heck to do with it. I've never reloaded before! I've got Lyman's 48th ed. Reloading Handbook & started reading. I've got so much set up to do first...my basement is the victim of 2 floods and I've still got a lot of drywall work to do, then put everything back in it's place, THEN build a bench, THEN set up the press and then, and only then, try not to get my hand blown off & bleed to death.

I thought this was going to be a happy time...

Do a search here on reloading - probably some odd hints and tips. But do read plenty - I think actually Lyman #47 is better than #48.

A useful book for methods, tho geared toward Lee stuff - is Richard Lee's "Modern Reloading", 2nd edition. And also - old book re content but invaulable for help is Dean Grennell's "ABC's of Reloading"

Start slow and careful - try too if possible to find someone else who reloads. One step at a time - no max'd loads early on!!

Yep, good points. Also , with the progressive press. Don't try to crank out rounds to start. Get it: 1. Set up and dialed in. 2. load one at a time , make sure everything is gonna go smooth. 3. work slowly , checking all variables often , till you get comfortable with the press.

I agree, especially one having a friend who you can call or see at work to ask the many ?'s you have..

And one thing I noticed is just when you think you are all set up, there's always another tool or something you either need or will find valuable. For me it was things like a kinetic bullet puller (I was just tossing the bullets i wrecked), a funnel for the powder, etc..

I just loaded 200 rounds of 9mm ammo on a friend's Dillon 550B... First time I ever did my own reloading... I did not learn to adjust everything, but I got a chance to learn how to check the powder loads and how everything worked, what to watch and all that other stuff.

I did check the following YouTube videos:
