Price for used brass
I have a 5-gallon bucket full of once-fired brass. With the bucket, it weighs 71 lbs on my bathroom scale. Most of it is .45 (about 80%). The rest is .40 and 9mm. I collected it b/c I thought I might get into reloading, but never did. (I switched from .45 to 9mm and with the cheaper ammo it's like I'm reloading!)
So, I want to sell this brass I collected. What is a fair price? Thanks |

9mm/40/45 goes for $30-40 per thousand shipped (USPS flat rate box for $9.80).

Thanks... Any idea how much 1000 cases weigh, or how many cases there are in a 5-gallon bucket?

Scrap metal places around here are paying up to $1.40 per pound for brass. 1000 cases weigh roughly 12 lbs. I missed a sale to a reloader yesterday. They wanted to give me $25 tops for 1000 once fired 40 S&W cases. I would have had to get at least $32 to partially cover shipping. Midway had the 40cal #3 brass on sale for $28.49. Their shipping would have been $11+ to total almost $40. Both the reloader and I figured they could find a better deal at a gun show or anywhere that wouldn't involve shipping costs.

I have a real bone-headed question.....
Can any brass be used for reloading? Or are there "special" reloading casings? I always pick up my brass because I shoot at my parents house. So I have a bunch of used commercial casing from various manufacturers in .22lr, .380, 9mm, .40 and .45. |
