Reloading DefensiveCarry.com accepts no liability for reloading information posted by members. It is down to the individual posting to ensure safe standards and to readers to verify what they read - it is they finally who bear responsibility for useage of information. Remember - typos can occur!
We strongly recommend that in most cases quoted loads be derived from recognized loading manuals and if possible these should be referenced. Where loads do not have back-up reference data available, for instance with use of an unusual powder, then posters are asked to please detail their method for establishing their data. Irresponsible publishing of unsubstantiated ''guestimated'' data is deprecated and may be heavily moderated.

If ammo is smoking, it's for one of three reasons: (1) too much lube on the lead bullet, (2) the wrong lube on the lead bullet. Moly-coated lead bullets do not smoke or (3) the wrong propellent for the load in question. Indoor range use demands clean-burning powders, like most ball powders, not something like Unique.

As for Glocks, plated bullets work nicely if not pushed to maximum speeds. So do hard-cast bullets. It's the softer swaged lead bullets that cause the problems. It's all a matter of using the right components for the purpose at hand.

For me, it is just too much easier to buy ammo than to reload.
It must be nice to have all that extra cash or you don't shoot all that much. :)

I use Unique all the time and have since I started reloading. Never had any issue with smoke from the powder at inddor ranges.

Now cast bullets with lube are a different story. (they smoke up the whole place)

But with Unique and jacketed bullets I get along just fine thank you. So I doubt if Unique powder is the problem.

Bullseye keeps my guns a little cleaner, but I notice no difference as far as smoke.

As previously said it is fun, you save money, and you can experiment with different loads.
After a while, you'll cast your own bullets; then each rounds will cost you the price of the primer, a few cents; a 1 lb. canister of powder will reload close to a thousand rds ... or more.
Currently I don't use a manuel, powder manufactures have all their formulas online, and generally contain a lot information.

Thanks Al Gore I finally found a use for the internet in which you created!

I would suggest you get at least one manual. A lot of people run down the Lee manual, "Modern Reloading, 2nd Edition", for being just a collection of other manufactures' data. However, it has all the data in one place, it has more data than any other single manual or internet source I have ever located, and its also the least expensive at less than $15. The Lee manual is simply faster to use than a computer, at least with my DSL connection.

I'm a Lee HandPress fan...I only load for .38/.357 for my Marlin 1894C levergun and my S&W 438 Bodyguard. I load about 150 cartridges a month is all so it's perfect for my needs.
Here is a pic my entire loading rig that fits in a sportsman's plastic dry box.
I use alot of IMR TrailBoss powder but I like the sweet smell of Unique smoke...weird I know.
